An apparatus for automatically charging scrap into an arc furnace wherein an inactive position at which a scrap bucket charged with the scrap is normally placed is provided adjacent to the arc furnace; a transport mechanism is provided so that the scrap bucket is moved between said position and the arc furnace; and the scrap bucket is brought to and stopped at a position right above the arc furnace so as to charge immediately the scrap into the arc furnace within a short time and without overflowing.

Apparatus for automatically charging scrap into an arc furnace

A suction duct having two opposed suction ports is disposed at the top wall of a shroud for a steel making arc furnace such that the two suction ports are in opposed relationship with respect to each other across an opening formed through the top wall of the shroud for permitting the lateral movement of a scrap bucket suspension device. An injection pipe or pipes are horizontally disposed in the suction port such that the injection pipes disposed in one of the suction ports are staggered vertically with respect to those disposed in the other suction port. A fluid is horizontally sprayed from a nozzle or nozzles of the injection pipes across the opening so that vertically spaced fluid shelves are formed across the opening.

In the present invention, many cooling pipes are arranged horizontally at least in any one of the walls or roof of a furnace, to be fitted at the respective ends on both sides with supporting pipes provided outside the furnace, to let the cooling medium flow in one system for high cooling efficiency and long life. The cooling pipes may be arranged in ladder fashion or in a similar way, to keep the splash film stable, thereby preventing the decrease of the thermal efficiency of the furnace.

This invention relates to a shroud for a steel making electric-arc furnace which surrounds the electric-arc furnace main body for sound- and dust-proofing, having doors provided in the side wall of the shroud to permit the scrap bucket to move in and out of the shroud and an opening of a minimum width in the suction port of a dust collecting suction duct on the top wall to permit transverse movement of the bucket lifting means to the center of the electric-arc furnace main body.

In a reactor, fine iron ore solids are made to descend through the fluidized bed of fine carbon bearing particles sustained within the reactor so that the fine iron ore solids may be reduced and simultaneously the reducing gas may be produced.
