The present invention relates to providing a detection device that has high robustness against a temperature change and a temporal change and that is capable of detecting a substance to be detected with high accuracy. The detection device of the present invention is a detection device that detects presence or an amount of a substance to be detected using an enhanced electric field based on surface plasmon resonance, the detection device having a light projecting unit for irradiating a metal film of a detection chip held by a chip holder with excitation light via a prism. The light projecting unit includes: a light source; a diaphragm for regulating an amount of light from the light source; and a conjugate optical system that optically conjugates an opening portion of the diaphragm and a region of the metal film irradiated with the excitation light.

Detection device

The present invention relates to providing a detection device that uses surface plasmon resonance to detect the presence or the amount of a substance to be detected, in which a detection unit can accurately detect scattered light without detecting stray light, and can accurately determine an irradiation angle of excitation light. This detection method uses the detection device that uses surface plasmon resonance to detect the presence or the amount of a substance to be detected. A detection range control unit controls a detection range of a detection unit so that a detection range utilized when the detection unit detects scattered light emitted from a metallic film and front a region on the metallic film differs from a detection range utilized when the detection unit detects fluorescence emitted front a fluorescent substance labeling the substance to be detected winch has been captured by a capturing body.

Detection device and detection method

A measurement chip including a prism, a metal film, and a capturing body is prepared. In a state in which a specimen is present on the metal film, scattered light obtained when first light which passes through the metal film and the specimen is scattered in the specimen when the first light is applied to the metal film from a prism side at a first incident angle smaller than a critical angle is detected. In a state in which a substance to be measured is captured by the capturing body and the specimen is not present on the metal film, a signal indicating an amount of the substance to be measured generated in the measurement chip when second light is applied to the metal film at a second incident angle not smaller than the critical angle from the prism side is detected. On the basis of a hematocrit value of the specimen determined from a light amount of the scattered light, a measurement value indicating the amount of the substance to be measured determined from the signal is corrected.

Surface plasmon resonance measurement method for measuring amount of substance in a specimen including whole blood

A specimen containing a substance to be measured is introduced into a flow path of a measurement chip including a flow path which is a cavity for accommodating liquid and a reflecting unit which specularly reflects light which passes through the flow path so as to pass through the flow path again and a measurement value indicating an amount of the substance to be measured in the specimen is acquired. Then, second light acquired when first light including light of a wavelength absorbed by a red blood cell passes through the specimen in the flow path, is reflected by the reflecting unit, and passes through the specimen in the flow path again is detected in a state in which the specimen is present in the flow path. Next, a hematocrit value of the specimen is determined on the basis of a detection result of the second light. Next, a measurement value is corrected on the basis of the hematocrit value.

Measurement method, measurement apparatus, and measurement system

A light irradiation angle is set with respect to a first surface so as to detect only either first reflected light or second reflected light. Then, light is emitted from a light irradiation part at the set irradiation angle while a detection chip is kept in motion, either the first reflected light or the second reflected light is detected by a reflected light detection part, and positional information of the detection chip is acquired on the basis of the result of the detection of the first or second reflected light. The detection chip is moved, on the basis of the acquired positional information, to a detection position where detection of a substance to be detected is performed. While the detection chip is kept at the detection position, detection of the substance to be detected is performed through detection of sample light.

Detection method and detection device

An optical sample detection system includes: a sensor chip including a dielectric member, a metal film adjacent to an upper surface of the dielectric member, a reaction layer adjacent to an upper surface of the metal film, and a lid member disposed on an upper surface of the reaction layer; a chip holding unit for holding the sensor chip; and a light projecting unit that irradiates the metal film with excitation light through the dielectric member. A sample is detected by irradiating the metal film with excitation light through the dielectric member. The lid member is wider than the dielectric member in an optical path cross section of the excitation light.

This detection device has a holder, light irradiation unit, angle adjustment unit, light receiving sensor, light receiving optical system, optical filter, and a control unit. The light receiving optical system guides light from a detection chip to the light receiving sensor. The optical filter is disposed in the light receiving optical system, blocks a part of plasmon scattered light, and passes, out of the light emitted from the detection chip, a part of the plasmon scattered light, and fluorescence emitted from a fluorescent material. The light receiving sensor detects the fluorescent light, and the part of the plasmon scattered light, which have been emitted from the detection chip and passed the optical filter. On the basis of the detection results of the plasmon scattered light, the control unit controls the angle adjustment unit, and adjusts the incident angle of the excitation light to a predetermined incident angle.

An optical tomographic image forming method including: splitting low coherence light emitted from a light source is split into a measuring light and a reference light; forming an optical tomographic image of a measured object by detecting an interference light that is obtained by superposing reflected light, reflected from the measured object when the measuring light is irradiated onto the measured object via a condenser lens, and reflected light, reflected from a reference mirror, which is positioned a predetermined length of optical path away from the splitting position, when the reference light is irradiated onto the reference mirror, wherein the method further includes: inputting a refractive index of the measured object; correcting the tomographic image in accordance with the inputted refractive index of the measured object; and outputting the corrected tomographic image.

Provided are an optical connector and an optical tomographic imaging apparatus, by which no noise occurs and a high quality image without a distortion can be obtained. In the optical connector, optical fibers are inserted into a lumen of a tube from opposite ends thereof; one of the optical fibers is fixed to the tube and the other optical fiber is held so as to be rotatable relative to the tube; an end of one of the optical fibers is separated from an end of the other optical fiber to form a gap therebetween in the lumen; a connecting section which connects the exterior space of the tube and the gap is formed; and a liquid or fluid made of a material which can transmit light is held in the exterior space, the gap, and the connecting section. Consequently, a significant pressure variation in matching liquid does not occur if the distance between the facing optical fibers changes.

Optical connector and optical tomographic imaging apparatus

Methods of optimizing optical alignment in an optical package are provided. In one embodiment, the optical package includes a laser diode, a wavelength conversion device, coupling optics positioned along an optical path extending from the laser diode to the wavelength conversion device, and one or more adaptive actuators. The method involves adjusting the optical alignment of the wavelength conversion device in a non-adaptive degree of freedom by referring to a thermally-dependent output intensity profile of the laser diode and a thermally-dependent coupling efficiency profile of the optical package. The adjustment in the non-adaptive degree of freedom is quantified such that, over a given operating temperature range of the optical package, portions of the coupling efficiency profile characterized by relatively low coupling efficiency offset portions of the output intensity profile characterized by relatively high laser output intensity and portions of the coupling efficiency profile characterized by relatively high coupling efficiency offset portions of the output intensity profile characterized by relatively low laser output intensity. Additional embodiments are disclosed and claimed.

The optical pickup apparatus includes: a light source; an objective lens; a first optical element including a first optical area and a second optical area; a second optical element including a third optical area and a fourth optical area. The optical pickup apparatus further includes a light-converging element for receiving a main light flux from one information recording surface and a secondary light flux from another information recording surface and converging the main light flux at a position between the first optical element and the second optical element. An optical pickup apparatus includes: a first light source for emitting a first light flux; a light-converging optical system including an objective lens and a diffractive structure. When the first light flux from an optical information recording medium enters into the diffractive structure, the diffractive structure emits a main light flux and a secondary light flux. A light source module includes: a light source; an optical waveguide; and an optical unit including one or more of an optical coupling lens for converging a light flux emitted from the light source onto the optical waveguide.
