In an image acquisition device, an optical path difference generating member can form an optical path length difference of a second optical image without splitting light in a second optical path. This can suppress the quantity of light required for the second optical path to obtain information of the focal position, whereby a quantity of light can be secured for a first imaging device to capture an image. The image acquisition device synchronizes the movement of a predetermined part of a sample within a field of an objective lens with rolling readout such that each pixel column of a second imaging device is exposed to an optical image of the predetermined part in the sample.

In an image acquisition device, imaging is performed using an imaging element capable of rolling reading an optical image of a sample irradiated with instantaneous light. Therefore, the image can be captured with a sufficient S/N ratio even when the optical image is weak. An electronic musical instrument provides a keyboard providing plural keys, memories for storing necessary programs and data, a musical tone signal generating circuit providing plural channels and a control unit such as a micro computer. A melody tone is designated by depressing a melody key within the keyboard. Then, an additional tone is automatically generated in relation to the melody tone by executing the programs, wherein its pitch, volume and tone color are controlled by the control unit.
