An image processing system having an input controller, a file server, an image setter, and a work station, each of which includes a separate and independent CPU. These CPUs operate simultaneously to provide high speed image processing. This system allows a user to combine and interactively edit various types of information, such as characters, designs and images, when the information is displayed upon a work station. After a user interactively edits this image information, a composed final image is stored in memory. The system also eliminates pattern frames, representing contour border lines around segments of the image, by superimposing an eliminating frame upon the contour lines.

Image composing method

An original table for use with an imaging apparatus or the like of a type wherein an original to be imaged is held in position by suction is disclosed. The surface of the table having holes through which air is drawn to provide the suction is covered with a sheet of nonwoven fabric having a high air permeability and high light reflectance. The sheet of nonwoven fabric is selectively coverable by an overlay member made of a transparent material that can be selectively applied over and detached from the sheet of nonwoven fabric in the case a paste-up or the like is to be imaged.

Original table for use in an imaging apparatus or the like

In contact-printing the image of a transmission type original on a photosensitive plate material positioned on a printing stage, the original is in advance fixed to a transparent sheet which is movable between an open position and a closed position. The original is fixed to the transparent sheet at a predetermined position thereon at which the original will be registered with the plate material when the transparent sheet is moved to its closed position. In the open position, the transparent sheet is held away from the printing stage to permit change of the plate material and in the closed position, the transparent sheet sealingly covers the plate material in a predetermined positional relationship therewith and the space under the transparent sheet is evacuated to bring the transparent sheet, the original and the plate material into close contact with each other. Then, the three members are exposed to light.
