This invention provides a color still image sensing apparatus and method, which can obtain image quality as high as that of the three-plate type with cost as low as the single-plate type, and can prevent the input time from becoming redundant. A solid-state image sensing device, which has an image sensing surface made up of a large number of photoelectric conversion elements arranged in a matrix and to the front surface of the image sensing surface of which a color filter having different color component regions in correspondence with the arrangement intervals of photoelectric conversion elements is fixed, is used, the irradiation region of incident light with respect to the solid-state image sensing device is changed in units of arrangement intervals of the photoelectric conversion elements by displacing the solid-state image sensing device and the incident light with respect to the solid-state image sensing device relative to each other along the image sensing surface in units of arrangement intervals of the photoelectric conversion elements, and image data of the solid-state image sensing device sensed at a plurality of changed positions are synthesized to an image.

Color still image sensing apparatus and method

In a liquid crystal television, segment electrodes of a liquid crystal panel are divided into image segment electrodes and indicator segment electrodes. A liquid crystal display unit includes an image segment driver for receiving a video signal from a television receiver and driving the image segment electrodes, and an indicator segment driver for receiving a tuning voltage from a tuning voltage control unit and driving the indicator segment electrodes. The image and indicator segment drivers are driven by signals having different voltage waveforms.

Liquid crystal television

A selecting electrode drive circuit is capable of providing drive pulses of twice as high having an amplitude twice as large as the breakdown voltage of semiconductor devices used in the circuit. The drive pulses thus provided are applied to selecting electrodes of a matrix type display device and the driving circuit includes a pulse generator for generating a train of reference pulses, a power supply connected to the pulse generator for level-shifting the reference pulses by the crest value of the power supply and a switching circuit is powered by the power supply.

Selecting electrode drive circuit for a matrix liquid crystal display

An auto-pedestal level clamp circuit, which clamps a pedestal level of a television signal input through a DC blocking capacitor using a pedestal level clamp switch to automatically adjust the pedestal level, includes a level detecting circuit for detecting a luminance signal level of the television signal, and an A/D converter for judging a luminance of a frame based on the output from the level detecting circuit. The level detecting circuit includes first and second gates, first and second switches controlled by the first and second gates, and a smoothing circuit. The pedestal level of the television signal input to the level detecting circuit through the pedestal level clamp switch is adjusted based on an integral potential level of the output from the A/D converter.

Auto-pedestal level clamp circuit

A method of driving a liquid crystal display panel of a TV receiver whereby of each set of six scanning lines consisting of three successive lines of one field and three corresponding lines of the succeeding field, three lines are displayed by display elements driven by one scanning electrode and the remaining three lines by display elements driven by an immediately adjacent scanning electrode. One of the three lines to be displayed by the action of each electrode may be omitted. An increase in display resolution of approximately 4/3 is attained, by comparison with a simple prior art drive method.

Method of driving liquid crystal display panel of TV receiver

Disclosed is a frequency-selectable signal generator in which a numeric datum is parallel-transferred to a full adder circuit repeatedly under the control of clock pulse signals, thereby outputting an overflow signal, which is a precise division of accumulation of repeatedly inputting numbers. The frequency of the overflow signal varies with the number represented by the numeric datum. The output signal has a regular pulse-to-pulse interval, and therefore it can be used in producing a musical note.

Frequency-selectable signal generator

An electronic timepiece is provided with a temperature compensation system which combines precise control of the timebase oscillator circuit frequency over a narrow temperature range with control of the frequency divider circuit operation to provide relatively large step changes in compensation, thereby providing accurate temperature compensation over a very wide temperature range. Data for control of this compensation is produced by computing the square of a data value which varies proportionally with temperature, with the resultant data being adjusted to provided compensation control which exactly matches the temperature characteristic of the timebase oscillator circuit.

Electronic timepiece

An electronic timepiece having a quartz crystal oscillator circuit as a timebase signal source is provided with a temperature compensation system to compensate timebase signal frequency deviations with temperature, all components of the system being incorporated in the timepiece IC chip. The system is based on a temperature-sensitive voltage stabilizer circuit whose output voltage is current-converted to control the frequency of a temperature-insensitive oscillator circuit. Date generated on the basis of the latter oscillator frequency is applied to compensate the timebase signal frequency, by a capacitor switching technique.

Electronic timepiece with temperature compensation

A DC-to-DC voltage converter is disclosed for converting the voltage from a battery to provide a power supply voltage whose value can be equal to the battery voltage multiplied by or divided by a non-integral factor, e.g. 2/3. The converter operates on the principle of capacitor charge switching, and high conversion efficiency is achieved in operation at very low levels of supply current, such as are utilized in an electronic timepiece.

DC-to-DC Voltage converter

An electronic timepiece is provided with a timebase signal source comprising a relatively low frequency quartz crystal oscillator circuit and with means for compensating the timebase signal frequency for the effects of temperature changes on the low frequency oscillator circuit, and further with means for comparing the timebase signal frequency with the frequency of a relatively high frequency quartz crystal oscillator circuit having high stability against aging changes, to thereby compensate for changes in the timebase frequency caused by aging of the low frequency quartz crystal vibrator, this comparison being carried out only within a specific narrow range of operating temperatures.

An electronic timepiece is provided with a photo-electric cell generating an output voltage indicative of incident illumination levels, circuit means for converting this output voltage into digital data signals, and a liquid crystal display which is driven in response to the data signals such that successive sections of the display act to progressively unmask a rear reflector plate to thereby indicate the illumination level. The circuits for converting illumination level to data signals are based on an oscillator circuit whose frequency is controlled by the photo-electric cell voltage, and digital means for measuring this frequency, so that the circuit configuration is very simple and power comsumption extremely low.
