A lens-fitted photo film unit includes a flash unit for applying flash light to a photographic object. An exposure amount changer, such as an aperture stop changing mechanism, changes over object light incident on photo film from the object between low and high exposure amounts. For the lens-fitted photo film unit, a photographic mode selection device includes a movable selector, such as a button, for selectively designating a daylight mode, a daylight flash mode and a night flash mode. The movable selector, when the daylight mode is designated, determines the low exposure amount and turns off the flash unit, and when the daylight flash mode is designated, determines the low exposure amount and turns on the flash unit, and when the night flash mode is designated, determines the high exposure amount and turns on the flash unit.

A first pin to be used for rotatably supporting a shutter blade is disposed near a second pin to be used for rotatably supporting a stop-changing plate. A rotational direction of the shutter blade from a closed position to an open position is set so as to be identical with a rotational direction of the stop changing plate directing from a smaller-stop position to a larger-stop position. Rotational spaces of the shutter blade and the stop changing plate are arranged at one side of a photographic optical axis so that a protrusion of a front cover for containing them is prevented from enlarging.

Lens-fitted film unit provided with focus adjusting mechanism

A focusing position selecting mechanism for determining focusing positions of a taking lens is provided with a selector member for selecting among a plurality of focusing positions including a focusing position for close-up photographing. In the front portion of the photographing unit a mirror is provided fixedly beside a finder window, and the photographer can take a picture of an object from the front with himself included in the composition by watching the mirror. On the front portion of the apparatus is indicated a focusing state of normal photographing so that the photographer may not make a mistake in photographing from the front at the normal focusing position.

A fixed making frame for blocking the peripheral light is disposed between a taking lens aperture and an exposure frame of a film surface. The effective diameter of the taking lens aperture is variable so as to make an angular field of a photogtaphing light which extends from the taking lens aperture to an exposure area. The angular filed is smaller under a larger effective diameter than under a smaller effective diameter. A predetermined width of a periphery of the exposure area defines a non-print area, and the fixed making frame is disposed at a side adjacent to the taking lens aperture with respect to an intersection of the peripheral light which extends between an inner periphery of the non-print area and the lens aperture under a larger effective diameter of the taking lens, and a peripheral exposure light which extends the lens aperture and an outer periphery of the exposure area, under a smaller effective diameter of the taking lens aperture. The making frame is configured to block the photographing light outside the peripheral light which extends between the inner periphery of the non-print area and the taking lens aperture upon increased effective diameter of the taking lens.

Lens-fitted film unit

In a lens-fitted photo film unit having a main body portion containing a roll of unexposed photo filmstrip and having photographic mechanisms mounted thereto, and outer walls covering the main body portion, any clearance provided for relative movement between two adjacent members is made to be not less than any gap in outer walls of the film unit. Particle diameters of the sands, which may enter at any gap in the outer wall, are less than the gap and thus less than any clearance, so that the clearance is not clogged up with the sands.

In a lens-fitted photographic film unit, a connection lever makes one reciprocating movement when struck by a shutter actuating lever. The reciprocating movement of the connection lever is transmitted to a crank lever to a pair of shutter blades to cause the shutter blades to open and then close a shutter aperture. The connection lever is coupled to the crank lever through a connection pin and a cam slot. The cam slot has an actuating portion and a keeping portion. While the connection pin moves along the actuating portion, the movement of the connection lever is transmitted to the shutter blades through the crank lever to open and close the shutter aperture. While the connection pin moves along the keeping portion, the movement of the connection lever is not transmitted to the shutter blades so that the shutter blades are kept in the opened position.

A telephotographic optical system is incorporated into a mechanism unit with an exposure mechanism, and the mechanism unit is removably attached to a main body having a cassette chamber and a film roll chamber as an integral body. The telephotographic optical system is constituted by a telephotographic taking lens, and a pair of mirrors attached to an exposure chamber so as to conduct light entering through the taking lens along a Z-shaped light path toward an exposure aperture. A lens aperture changing mechanism is also incorporated in the mechanism unit. A switching member of the lens aperture changing mechanism is disposed on an upper wall portion of the film unit. An aperture-stop member having at least a lens aperture is moved by the switching member so as to place the lens aperture in the exposure light path. A color filter or an ND filter is inserted in the field of view of the viewfinder to indicate that the lens aperture is placed in the exposure light path, in cooperation with the aperture-stop member.
