The use of 1-phenoxycarbonyl-2-pyrrolidinone derivatives as an anti-platelet aggregating agent. The derivatives are of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl group, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxy group, a nitro group or a halogen atom and n is 0, 1 or 2.

1-Phenoxycarbonyl-2-pyrrolidinone derivatives of formula (I) or (I') are disclosed. ##STR1## wherein R is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl group, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxy group, a nitro group or a halogen atom and n is 1 or 2, and R' is the same as R, but including further a hydrogen atom. The compounds of formula (I') are useful as nootropic agents.

Pyrrolidine derivatives of formula (I) are disclosed. ##STR1## wherein the ring A represents the following heterocyclic ring ##STR2## The compounds of formula (I) are useful as nootropic agents.

Adenosine derivatives of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a group of the formula: ##STR2## in which R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are each hydrogen, alkoxy or arylthio and R.sup.7 is hydrogen or halogen, or a group of the formula: ##STR3## and R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are each hydrogen or alkanoyl, and pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. These derivatives and salts thereof are useful as antihypertensives, bradycardiacs, etc. The method of production thereof and pharmaceutical compositions based on those adenosine derivatives or salts are also described.
