A method for moving an upper mold against a lower mold in a mold casting machine having a mold clamping mechanism attached to a lifting and lowering frame. The mechanism has an upper mold lifting and lowering device that assembles and separates the upper and lower molds by lifting and lowering the upper mold relative to the lower mold and the frame. A space for a setting a core and for taking out products is formed between the upper and lower molds by lifting the device relative to the frame, and by lifting the frame relative to the lower mold. Then the frame is lowered until the upper mold comes close to the lower mold. Thereafter the upper mold is lowered by the device to form an assembled mold, molten metal is introduced into the mold and after the metal has solidified the upper mold is lifted by the device, all while the frame is kept fixed relative to the lower mold.

A device for moving a metal cope towards and apart from a stationary metal drag, used in a metal mold casting device that uses the metal cope and drag, comprising: an upper die plate () for carrying the metal cope; a frame (); a metal mold opening and closing device () mounted on the frame for carrying and vertically moving the upper die plate relative to the frame so as to move the metal cope attached to the upper die plate between a position that is above and relatively near the metal drag and a position that is at the metal drag; and an actuator () connected to the frame for moving the frame so as to move the metal cope attached to the upper die plate between the position that is above and relatively near the metal drag and a position that is relatively far from the metal drag.

A sand-blowing apparatus for a molding machine having a sand-storing tank for storing foundry sand disposed so as to be movable vertically and having an opening in an upper part of the sand-storing tank for supplying sand thereto, a nozzle in a bottom part of the sand-storing tank, a chamber in a central part of the sand-storing tank, and an exhaust valve that communicates with the chamber, a compressed air tank for storing compressed air that is movable vertically located above the sand-storing tank, and having an opening in a bottom part of the compressed air tank for blowing compressed air, a device for moving the compressed air tank toward and away from the sand-storing tank, a valve for controlling the opening and closing of the opening in the bottom part of the compressed air tank, a piston rod connected to said valve that passes through an upper part of the compressed air tank, and a device for raising and lowering the piston rod to thereby open and close the valve, wherein when the compressed air tank is lowered and abuts the sand-storing tank, the opening in the upper part of the sand-storing tank communicates with the opening in the bottom part of the compressed air tank so that when the valve in the compressed air tank is opened, foundry sand is blown through the nozzle in the sand-storing tank by the compressed air in the compressed air tank.

Casting sand blowing device for molding machines

A casting machine is provided for producing an as-cast product by using horizontally split type metal molds, which are closed and held horizontally to define a cavity, and by pouring molten metal from a holding furnace into the cavity. The casting machine includes a metal drag held horizontally at a fixed position; a plurality of upwardly-facing cylinders disposed around the metal drag and mounted on a floor or a base, each cylinder having a cylinder rod that extends and retracts; and a cope die base mounted for vertical movement on the distal ends of the cylinder rods of the upwardly-facing cylinders for horizontally holding a metal cope at a position above the metal drag so that the metal cope is mated with the metal drag to define the cavity when the cope die base is lowered by the upwardly-facing cylinders.
