A metalens (wavefront control element) according to the present disclosure is a wavefront control element that controls a wavefront of incident light, and includes a plurality of metasurface regions. The plurality of metasurface regions are arranged in an array.

Wavefront control element, lighting device, and projector

A projector of the present disclosure includes a light source that emits laser light, a metasurface element that modulates the phase of the laser light emitted from the light source, and a light modulation element that modulates the phase-modulated laser light emitted from the metasurface element to generate projection light.

Projector

A light source device includes a light source configured to emit excitation light, a phosphor which the excitation light enters, the phosphor being configured to emit fluorescence different in wavelength from the excitation light, a plurality of first nanoantennas provided to the phosphor, and a plurality of second nanoantennas provided to the phosphor. Each of the first nanoantennas is formed of metal. Each of the second nanoantennas is formed of a material higher in melting point than the metal. An arrangement area of the plurality of second nanoantennas overlaps an irradiation area with the excitation light in a plan view viewed from a normal direction of the phosphor. An electric field enhancement of the fluorescence is achieved by each of the first nanoantennas and each of the second nanoantennas.

Light source device and projector

A display apparatus includes an image light generating unit that includes a laser light source unit and a MEMS mirror configured to reflect laser light emitted from the laser light source unit, and that is configured to generate image light, an exit pupil expander configured to expand a luminous flux diameter of the image light from the image light generating unit, a light-guiding plate, a first surface relief-type diffraction grating provided at a light incidence portion of the light-guiding plate and on which the image light passing through the exit pupil expander is incident and enters the light-guiding plate, and a second surface relief-type diffraction grating provided at a light emission portion of the light-guiding plate and through which the image light propagating inside the light-guiding plate exits, in which the image light generating unit includes a speckle noise reduction section configured to reduce speckle noise in the image light.

Display apparatus

A phase modulation element of the present disclosure includes a substrate, and a plurality of columnar structures formed from a dielectric material provided at a first surface of the substrate, wherein the plurality of columnar structures have a refractive index and a pitch that produce a waveguide effect for incident light including a first light component and a second light component, the first surface of the substrate includes a first region provided with a plurality of first columnar structures that modulate phase for the first light component, and a second region provided with a plurality of second columnar structures that modulate phase for the second light component having parameters different from parameters of the first light component.

Phase modulation element and display device

An optical device of the present disclosure includes an optical element and an aberration correction element configured to correct aberration caused by the optical element. The aberration correction element includes a plurality of columnar structures made of a dielectric material. The plurality of columnar structures have a refractive index and a pitch such that a waveguide effect with respect to incident light is produced, and a diameter of a first columnar structure and a diameter of a second columnar structure among the plurality of columnar structures differ from each other.

Optical device and display device

In an optical system of a display device, an image light projecting device emits image light toward a first side in a first direction. A reflective element of a first light-guiding system emits the image light emitted from the image light projecting device toward a second side in the first direction. A first diffraction element having a reflectivity emits the image light emitted from the reflective element toward the first side in the first direction. A second diffraction element having a reflectivity emits the image light emitted from the first diffraction element toward the second side in the first direction and causes the image light to be incident on an eye of an observer. An optical path from the first diffraction element to the second diffraction element is provided in a second light-guiding system.

Display device

A display apparatus includes an image forming device, first and second light guide members that respectively have first and second light incidence portions and first and second light emission portions, a first diffractive optical element provided in the first light emission portion, a second diffractive optical element provided in the second light emission portion, and a first external light noise reduction element provided over the second light guide member. The first external light noise reduction element overlaps the first and second light emission portions. The first light incidence portion overlaps the second light incidence portion. Image light from the image forming device is incident on the first light incidence portion. A part of the image light is guided in the first light guide member. Another part of the image light is incident on the second light incidence portion and is guided in the second light guide member.

An image display apparatus includes a light source configured to emit image light, a scanning mirror configured to reflect the image light from the light source, and a reflective diffraction optical element configured to change a direction of the image light from the scanning mirror to a different direction in addition to regular reflection. The scanning mirror is arranged at a position and a height as different from an observing point as possible. A direction of extension of an interference fringe of the reflective diffraction optical element intersects incident light from the light source.

Image display apparatus having a diffraction optical element

An optical device includes a light-conducting member, having a first panel surface disposed facing an image forming unit, that conducts image light incident on a light entry plane formed at an end of the first panel surface to a light exit plane formed in front of the viewer's eye; a first diffractive optics element, provided on the light entry plane, that diffracts the image light incident on the light entry plane in a predetermined direction and transmits that light into the light-conducting member; a second diffractive optics element, provided on the light exit plane, that diffracts the image light exiting from the light exit plane in a predetermined direction and transmits that light to the front of the viewer's eye; and one or more reflective planes disposed within a waveguide for the image light diffracted by the first diffractive optics element.

Optical device and image display apparatus

An optical device includes a light guide plate; a first diffraction element that is a transmission type diffraction element provided on a first face of the light guide plate and that diffracts and ejects at least a portion of light which is guided along inside the light guide plate; a second diffraction element that is a transmission type diffraction element provided on the first face of the light guide plate and that diffracts at least a portion of light proceeding to the light guide plate; and a third diffraction element that is a reflection type diffraction element provided on a face which is an opposite face of the light guide plate from the first face, and that diffracts at least a portion of light which enters an inside of the light guide plate via the second diffraction element.
