The object is to provide an evaluation model that can evaluate how much external force is being applied to a brain organ and/or a cranial bone during an endoscopic endonasal surgery. The object can be achieved by an evaluation model for endoscopic endonasal surgery including: a simulated head part; and a distortion sensor, in which the simulated head part includes a simulated cranium part, the simulated cranium part includes a simulated nasal cavity, and the distortion sensor is arranged in a part of the simulated head part.

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a device for training in ophthalmic surgery that can be used for training in glaucoma surgery. The problem can be solved by a device for training in ophthalmic surgery including: a simulated-eyeball pedestal having a recess into which a simulated eyeball can be directly or indirectly inserted; a simulated eyeball insertable into the simulated-eyeball pedestal, or a member for retaining a simulated eyeball that retains a simulated eyeball, the member for retaining the simulated eyeball being insertable into the simulated-eyeball pedestal; and a mechanism for generating a restoring force that generates a force for restoring a position of the simulated eyeball or the simulated-eyeball retaining member toward a normal state with respect to the simulated-eyeball pedestal; the simulated eyeball or the member for retaining the simulated eyeball rotating along the recess of the simulated-eyeball pedestal.

Device for training in ophthalmic surgery

Provided are a device whereby, during process of a process target such as a cell or the like, localized process of a process part is possible without inflicting damage due to heat, and rejoining and regeneration may proceed readily subsequent to process, and whereby an injection substance may be introduced efficiently; and a device for generating bubbles containing a plasma. Through the use of a localized ablation device employing a bubble jetting member having a core formed from a conductive material, a shell part formed from an insulating material, covering the core and including a section extending from the tip of the core, and a space formed between the extended section of the shell part and the tip of the core, a process target can be treated in localized fashion and without inflicting damage. By further providing an outside shell part at the outer periphery of the shell part, bubbles onto which a solution containing an injection substance has been adsorbed can be ejected, and the injection substance can be introduced during localized ablation of the process target. Additionally, by including a pair of electrodes formed from a conducting material, for generating a plasma in an inert gas, a liquid flow passage through which a liquid flows, and a microscopic flow passage for flow of an inert gas, an inert gas containing a plasma, and bubbles of inert gas containing a plasma, the liquid flow passage and the microscopic flow passage connecting at the downstream side from a section in which plasma is generated in the microscopic flow passage, bubbles containing a plasma can be generated, and can maintain a plasma state even in liquid, whereby therapy of biological tissue can be effected with the plasma.

A dispensing apparatus, a liquid dispensing method, and a cell dispensing method which can dispense liquid with very high accuracy. A dispensing apparatus includes a glass pipette, a tubular elastic member, a rod-shaped member, and a piezoelectric element actuator. A portion of the tubular elastic member located adjacent to a first open end thereof covers a portion of the glass pipette located adjacent to an opening portion thereof. A portion of the tubular elastic member located adjacent to a second open end thereof covers at least a forward end portion of the rod-shaped member. When the piezoelectric element actuator pushes the rod-shaped member toward the opening portion of the glass pipette, the tubular elastic member deforms such that the volume of the internal space of the tubular elastic member decreases.

A cell sorting device is characterized by including: a main flow channel () through which a liquid containing a row of cells including a target cell flows, and in which a cell separation area for separating the target cell from the row of cells is provided at a halfway position in a flow direction, the main flow channel being formed in a substrate (); a selection flow channel () into which the target cell is pushed out from the main flow channel, the selection flow channel being formed in the substrate so as to branch from the main flow channel downstream of the cell separation area; a sub flow channel () through which a separating liquid flows, the separating liquid being for separating the target cell from the row of cells and pushing out the target cell into the selection flow channel, the sub flow channel being formed in the substrate so as to intersect with the main flow channel in the cell separation area; a pair of liquid flow generating members () for generating a liquid flow of the separating liquid in the sub flow channel, the liquid flow generating members being provided at one end and the other end of the sub flow channel; and a drive control member () for actuating the pair of liquid flow generating members, wherein the drive control member actuates the pair of liquid flow generating members in conjunction with each other so that the separating liquid forms a liquid flow in a first direction from the one end to the other end of the sub flow channel and a liquid flow in a second direction opposite to the first direction.

Cell sorting device

Means which enables preparation of a thick cell aggregate by a simple process without an operation of detaching and stacking of cells is disclosed. The method for preparing a three-dimensional cell aggregate by the present invention comprises: a cell encasing step of placing a cell suspension in a cell container; and a pressure application step of applying pressure to cells in the container. The cell encasing step and the pressure application step may be carried out a plurality of times. By the present invention, a thick, robust cell aggregate can be obtained by a simple operation of applying pressure to a cell suspension or a medium containing cells. Since the method does not require an operation of stacking a plurality of cell sheets, the cells are hardly damaged, and the conditions of the cells can be favorably maintained, so that the cells can be advantageously used as a tissue piece for transplantation.

Provided are a protein crystal device and method for crystallizing protein capable of generating protein crystal without imparting a heat effect, a protein crystal-cutting device and method for cutting protein crystal capable of cutting protein crystal without imparting a heat effect on protein crystal, and bubble-jetting member and protein-adsorbing-bubble-jetting member used in said device. A bubble-jetting member is used in a protein crystal device to jet bubbles into a protein solution to thereby allow protein crystals to be obtained, the bubble-jetting member comprising: a core formed of a conductive material; a shell part formed of an insulating material, including an extended section extending from the tip of the core, and in which at least a portion closely adheres to the core to cover the core; and a gap having a bubble-jetting port, the gap being formed between the extended section and the tip of the core.

Method for crystallizing protein

Provided is a microparticle separation system capable of continuously separating microparticles from a solution in a short period of time in which microparticles having different particle diameters are mixed, without the need to use antibodies or the like. The microparticle separation system comprises a microparticle separation chip; a thin plate for a sample liquid; a thin plate for a sheath liquid; and suctioning means and/or a suctioning device for suctioning the sheath liquid; and the microparticle separation chip comprises a single capture site for capturing to-be-captured microparticles being formed using the at least three pillars having one end provided on the substrate and the other end open upward.

Provided is a microchannel chip, for microparticle separation, which can continuously separate microparticles, from a solution in which microparticles of different particle diameter are mixed, without needing to use an antibody or similar, and without causing clogging. Also provided are a microparticle separation method and a system for microparticle separation using the chip. Microparticles can be captured by using the microchannel chip for microparticle separation, the microchannel chip being characterised by being provided with a plurality of main channels and capture portions that are wider than the main channels and at least one of which is provided to each main channel.

The present invention is a method of recovering a desired micromaterial in a system comprising a medium that undergoes a reversible phase transition between a sol and a gel, a support material and micromaterials, comprising the steps of converting the medium surrounding the micromaterial to be recovered into a gel locally to immobilize said micromaterial on said support along with the gelled medium, removing the medium and micromaterials not immobilized on said support material and converting the gelled medium to a sol to recover the micromaterial.

A highly sensitive oscillatory gyroscope that includes an elastic metal body in the form of a rectangular column having first to fourth sides. The elastic metal body includes a pair of end segments located at its ends and a pair of middle segments located at an upper middle portion and a lower middle portion of the elastic metal body. Each end segment has an opening extending from the second side to the fourth side, and each middle segment has an opening extending from the first side to the third side. A first ferroelectric substance film is provided on each of the first and third sides at the end segments.
