An optical device according to one embodiment includes: a light-emitting element; first and second lenses optically coupled with the light-emitting element; an optical component provided between the light-emitting element and the second lens, optically coupling each of the light-emitting element and the second lens, and multiplexing input lights; and a base having a lower plate having a plurality of convex mounting surfaces with each of the light-emitting element, the first lens, the second lens, and the optical component being mounted thereon and a side wall with a receptacle being connected thereto.

Optical device and manufacturing method for optical device

A wavelength de-multiplexing system that receives a wavelength multiplexed signal and generates electrical signals corresponding to the optical signals is disclosed. The optical receiver module includes a lens, a lens unit, and an optical de-multiplexer (O-DeMux). The lens converts the wavelength multiplexed signal into a quasi-collimated beam. The lens unit narrows a diameter of the quasi-collimated beam. The O-DeMux de-multiplexes the narrowed quasi-collimated beam coming from the lens unit by wavelength selective filters (WSFs) each having optical distances from the lens unit different from each other.

A receiver optical module that receives a wavelength multiplexed signal is disclosed. The receiver optical module includes an optical de-multiplexer that generates a plurality of signals contained in the wavelength multiplexed signal depending on wavelengths of the signals. The wavelength de-multiplexer has features that the optical de-multiplexer has a plurality of sub-elements stacked to each other, where each of the sub-elements de-multiplexes a portion of the wavelength multiplexed signal. Or, the optical de-multiplexer has a series of wavelength selective filters each extracting signal components having outermost wavelengths from signal components entering therein.

A receiver optical module to facilitate the assembling is disclosed. The receiver optical module includes an intermediate assembly including the optical de-multiplexer and the optical reflector each mounted on the upper base, and the lens and the PD mounted on the sub-mount. The latter assembly is mounted on the bottom of the housing; while, the former assembly is also mounted on the bottom through the lower base. The upper base is apart from the bottom and extends in parallel to the bottom to form a surplus space where the amplifying circuit is mounted.

Receiver optical module for receiving wavelength multiplexed optical signals and method to assemble the same

An optical module with an arrangement is disclosed in which the module has the LD, the TEC, and the lens with the lens carrier also mounted on the TEC. The signal light from the LD is concentrated by the lens and reflected by the mirror each assembled with the lens carrier mounted on the TEC. The TEC is mounted on the bottom metal that covers the bottom of the ceramic package, the first layer of which is widely cut to set the TEC therein. The FPC is coupled in at least two edges of the first ceramic layer left from the cut.
