A bumper absorber for protecting pedestrians is formed into a W-shaped cross-sectional configuration, as taken along a direction which is orthogonal to a longitudinal direction of the bumper absorber. The W-shaped cross sectional configuration has portions in which a front notch portion, an upper rear notch portion, and a lower rear notch portion overlap with one another in a vertical direction of a vehicle. Ribs are formed respectively at the upper rear notch portion and the lower rear notch portion, and a triangular notch is formed from a vehicle rear side at each of the rib. Further, the ribsare formed at the upper rear notch portion and the lower rear notch portion so as to be separated from each other at predetermined intervals in a longitudinal direction of the bumper absorber, namely, in a transverse direction of the vehicle. With this structure, a rise in impact load acting on a pedestrian who is hit by a bumper can be controlled.

A differential amplifier includes an input circuit outputting an input signal to be amplified, and a differential amplifier circuit having a first input terminal, a second input terminal, a first output terminal and a second output terminal. Complementary output signals are obtained at the first and second output terminals. An input bias circuit applies an input bias signal based on the input signal to the first input terminal of the differential amplifier circuit. A reference bias circuit applies a reference bias signal to the second input terminal of the differential amplifier circuit. A variation detecting circuit detects a variation in the input bias signal and generates a detection signal indicating a magnitude of the variation. A bias adjustment circuit adjusts the reference bias signal on the basis of the detection signal so that a difference between the input bias signal and the reference bias signal is always zero.

A bias voltage supplying circuit for supplying a bias voltage includes first and second PNP type transistors having emitters coupled to a first power source terminal and bases connected to each other, where the first PNP type transistor has a collector coupled to the base thereof, first and second NPN type transistors having collectors respectively connected to collectors of the first and second PNP type transistors, emitters coupled to a second power source terminal and bases connected to each other, where the second NPN type transistor has the collector connected to the base thereof, and a diode part coupled between the emitter of the second PNP type transistor and the base of the second NPN type transistor. The diode part has an anode end coupled to the emitter of the second PNP type transistor and a cathode end coupled to the base of the second NPN type transistor, and the diode part has a forward voltage drop V.sub.D which is less than a voltage V.sub.S across the first and second power source terminals. The voltage V.sub.S is less than a sum of the forward voltage drop V.sub.D and a base-emitter voltage V.sub.BE of the second NPN type transistor.
