A determination apparatus has a feature extraction unit and a similarity determination unit. The feature extraction unit counts a number of appearances of each keyword included in a piece of document information and deletes any arrangement including a keyword having the number of appearances less than a threshold under a condition where a number of types of keyword arrangements included in a certain range of the piece of document information is equal to or greater than a certain number and extracts, as features, a plurality of keyword arrangements from the piece of document information. An email wrong transmission preventing apparatus calculates memory ratios of addresses of emails in a transmission log by a model expression in which the memory ratios decline over time, compiles the memory ratios of the emails for each destination to set weights, and records the weights in a user weight list. Similarity retrieval is performed through the use of a distance index which contains a concatenated key and pointer information and retains a dictionary type order in the concatenated key. The concatenated key is produced by discretizing the distance from each of a plurality of reference points to an object point representing information to be retrieved in a multidimensional space consisting of a plurality of dimensions corresponding to the plurality of feature parameters and concatenating the resulting discretized distances. The use of the concatenated key allows candidate points in the d-distance neighborhood to be narrowed down.
