Disclosed is an idle stop control device that automatically shuts down an engine when a first condition is satisfied, and then restarts the engine using a starter to which electricity is fed through a brush when a second condition is satisfied, the idle stop control device including a start-operation brush wear amount computing unit that is configured to compute a brush wear amount in a single start operation, a total brush wear amount computing unit that is configured to compute a total brush wear amount by integrating the brush wear amount in a single start operation, and an automatic engine shutdown prohibiting unit that is configured to prohibit an automatic engine shutdown when the total brush wear amount is equal to or larger than a warranty driving wear amount of the starter.

Idle stop control device

Disclosed is a protection device of an engine starting device that protects the engine starting device provided with a plurality of starting devices including a starter capable of starting an engine and a motor/generator capable of starting the engine, the engine being started by driving the motor/generator under a first condition, the engine being started by driving the starter under a second condition less generated than the first condition, wherein the starter is forcedly driven on a regular basis.

Protection device of engine starting device

A variable valve timing apparatus has a rotational torque transmission path that changes the relative phases of a camshaft that moves an engine valve and a rotary crank body that is coupled to the crankshaft. The rotational torque transmission path has uses an electromagnetic brake delay rotation of a drum, which is coupled to the rotary crank body by a biasing member and a moving member. When rotation of the drum is delayed, the moving member changes the angular orientation between the drum and the rotary crank body against the biasing force of the biasing member. The electromagnetic brake is coupled to a cover by two protrusions and two concavities. The protrusions are arranged to prevent contact between the electromagnetic brake and the drum due to tension of the chain.
