A first panelincludes: a fold-back partformed by folding back the first panel along an edge partof the first panel; and a seam allowance partlaid on top of the fold-back part, the second panelis sewed to the first panel with a first chain stitchwhile being laid on top of the fold-back part, and a chain partof the first chain stitchis located between the fold-back partand the seam allowance part. Thus, because the chain partof the first chain stitchis covered by the seam allowance partof the first panel, the chain partof the first chain stitchis prevented from rubbing against other members during deployment of the airbag, whereby the reliability of a sewing sectioncan be enhanced.

Airbag sewing structure

A curtain airbag device where an airbag main body provided along a roof side rail is deployed in the form of a curtain inside the vehicle compartment by operation of an inflator. The airbag main body includes a first expansion part disposed at a position overlying a center pillar and supplied with gas by operation of the inflator during deployment; a second expansion part disposed to the rear of the first expansion part and supplied with gas from the first expansion part; and a gas communication part providing communication between the first expansion part and the second expansion part. The gas communication part is provided above a seatbelt interference region where the deployed airbag main body interferes with the seatbelt. When the vehicle is subjected to an external impact and the airbag main body expands, gas flows from the first expansion part to the second expansion part.

Curtain airbag device

An airbag apparatus includes a fixing bracket fixed to an upper portion of the side wall of a vehicle. The fixing bracket has an inflator support portion that supports an inflator, a fastening portion fastened and fixed to the upper portion of the side wall of the vehicle at a position below the inflator, and a restraining wall that extends along the axis direction of the fastening portion under the inflator. An airbag body is disposed between the inflator and an upper wall portion of the restraining wall, and the airbag body is compressed by the inflator and the upper wall portion and held between the inflator and the upper wall portion. The restraining wall restrains displacement of the airbag body so that the airbag body does not overlap a fastening operation area into which the fixing bracket is fastened.

Airbag apparatus of vehicle

An air-bag device in which a deployed air-bag has a complete deployment portion positioned on the longitudinally central side and having a substantially constant diameter and incomplete deployment portions positioned on longitudinally opposite end sides and having a diameter that gradually decreases in going toward a blocking member, the incomplete deployment portion has high rigidity compared with the complete deployment portion and is difficult to deform when there is a collision with a pedestrian, thus degrading the impact absorption performance, but disposing the plurality of vent holes in the incomplete deployment portion at a fixed pitch in the longitudinal direction and the circumferential direction of the air-bag enables the rigidity of the incomplete deployment portion to be lowered and the impact absorption performance to be enhanced, thereby giving uniform impact absorption performance over the entire longitudinal length of the air-bag.

Air-bag device

An airbag () made of metal is disposed between an edge portion () of a windshield () of a vehicle and an outer panel (), projecting toward an outside of a vehicle body beyond the edge portion (), of a front pillar (). Thus, it is possible to install the airbag device without making large design changes to the existing structure of the vehicle body, and to prevent the external appearance from being deteriorated by the installation of the airbag device. Further, once the airbag () made of metal is deployed, the airbag does not shrink. Thus, it is possible not only to reduce the weight and costs by employing an inflator () with a smaller volume, but also to cause the airbag to exert a stable shock absorbing capability irrespective of the difference in the timing of the collision of a pedestrian. Further, a part of the airbag () is a garnish part () forming an outer surface of the vehicle body in cooperation with the outer panel (). Thus, it is possible to reduce the number of parts and costs by making the garnish part () exert the garnish function.

Airbag device

A side curtain airbag includes an airbag body and a plurality of airbag fixation portions. The airbag body is divided into a plurality of cells that are inflated by gas flowing into them. The plurality of airbag fixation portions are provided along the upper periphery of the airbag body and attached to a plurality of vehicle body side fixation portions. In a state before attachment, of the plurality of airbag fixation portions, an upper front airbag fixation portion is located above the vehicle body side fixation portion corresponding to the airbag fixation portion, and at substantially the same level as the other airbag fixation portions. Of the plurality of cells, an upper front cell is formed so as to bulge close to the upper front airbag fixation portion.

Side curtain airbag

Disclosed is a passenger protection device provided with a side curtain airbag which expands in the form of a curtain, along the inner surface of a side portion of a vehicle. A side curtain airbag () is comprised of a gas introduction chamber () which introduces gas; and lower expansion portions () which are expanded in the lower portion of the gas introduction chamber by the gas introduced from the gas introduction chamber. The gas introduction chamber has a plurality of large upper expansion portions () which are arranged in the longitudinal direction of a vehicle, so as to be respectively positioned in a plurality of pillars (). The large upper expansion portions expand more widely than small expansion portions (), i.e., other portions of the gas introduction chamber, in the width direction of a vehicle.

Passenger protection device for vehicle

A side airbag apparatus deployed between a vehicle compartment sidewall and a vehicle occupant. The airbag has an upper chamber, a lower chamber, and a middle chamber formed between the upper and lower chambers. The middle chamber is deployed prior to the timing of deployment of the upper and lower chambers.

Side airbag apparatus

An airbag is expanded upward on the side of a passenger from a door part. A cover body which covers the airbag is formed by overlaying an outer part made of a hard resin to an inner part made of a soft resin. A supporting piece part is protruded from the cabin external side of the inner part. A to-be-ripped part is formed on the supporting piece part. On expansion of the airbag, the to-be-ripped part is ripped, thereby allowing the door part to move rotationally on the cabin internal side. Therefore, the airbag equipped at the door part can be smoothly expanded along the side face part of the cabin. Thus, an airbag apparatus is improved in appearance.

Airbag cover body and airbag apparatus

Airbag apparatus includes an airbag having at least two bag body sections superposed on each other. Gas flow-in portion for connection to an inflator is formed in one of the bag body sections adjacent to one edge of the one bag body section. Communicating hole is formed in the plurality of bag body sections adjacent to the other edge of the one bag body section. Upon activation of the inflator, gas is supplied into the one bag body section, through the gas flow-in portion, to develop the one bag body section. After that, the other bag body section superposed on the one bag body section is developed by the gas supplied through the communicating hole.

Vehicular airbag apparatus

This air bag device includes: an air bag which is arranged between an under-window panel and a lining that covers a cabin interior side thereof, and develops upward along an inner surface of a window; and a pressing member which presses a bottom portion of the air bag toward the under-window panel while developing the air bag. The bottom portion of the air bag and the under-window panel overlap with each other at a predetermined length along a vertical direction.

Air bag device

An air bag device comprising an air bag that is disposed between an under-window panel and a lining that covers a cabin interior side thereof and deploys upward along an inside surface of the window; and an impact absorption member that interposes between the air bag and the lining.

An airbag includes two base cloths sewn together at their outer peripheries by a seam extending from a central portion to the outer periphery of the base cloths into a vortical shape. When gas is supplied from an inflator to a center aperture of one of the base cloth to inflate the airbag, load generated by gas pressure breaks the seam sequentially from the central portion to the outer periphery, preventing sudden deployment of the airbag in fore and aft directions at the initial stage of deployment, thereby enabling not only soft restraining of passengers but also sufficient restraining by deploying the airbag into a final shape that is flat in fore and aft directions upon completion of breaking of the seam. The seam comprises a plurality of bonding portions such that the inflation breaks each of the bonding portions sequentially.

An occupant protection device that is provided in a door on the side of a vehicle, including an inflator that has an end portion at which a fluid delivery port is formed and delivers a fluid during a vehicle collision, and an expanding body that expands by the fluid fed by the inflator to cover the inside surface of a window provided in the door, with the end portion of the inflator being directly inserted in the expanding body, and the inflator being provided on the side of the door to be mounted to the vehicle body in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.

Occupant protection device

An arrangement structure of an air bag device that is provided on a panel in the vicinity of a window of a vehicle includes: an air bag; a first cover that covers a cabin interior side of the air bag; a second cover that is joined to the first cover directly or by a intermediate member; and a lining that has a notch portion of substantially the same size as the first cover and that is provided on the cabin interior side of the panel. The air bag in a folded state is housed in a space formed by the first cover and the second cover.
