An active energy ray curable ink composition capable of improving curability while maintaining excellent metal-tone glossiness and a printed matter having high design properties and excellent metal-tone glossiness. The ink composition is discharged using an inkjet method, and contains a polymerization initiator, a polymerizable compound, and a brilliant pigment. The polymerization initiator contains an acylphosphine oxide-based polymerization initiator, aminoacetophenone-based polymerization initiator, and thioxanthone-based polymerization initiator. The printed matter includes a brilliant layer containing the brilliant pigment.

A main object of the present invention is to provide an ink composition for ink-jet recording capable of forming an ink film excellent in both film strength and scratch resistance. The present invention achieves the object by providing an ink composition for ink-jet recording comprising: an aqueous solvent including water and water-soluble organic solvent; a coloring agent; a resin emulsion; and a surfactant; wherein the resin emulsion includes a silicon-acrylic resin emulsion and a resin emulsion other than the silicon-acrylic resin emulsion; a content ratio of the resin emulsion to the coloring agent (content of the resin emulsion/content of the coloring agent) is 1/5 or more and 15/1 or less; and a content ratio of the silicon-acrylic resin emulsion to the coloring agent (content of the silicon-acrylic resin emulsion/content of the coloring agent) is 1/20 or more and 5/1 or less.

The present invention is proposed is an oil-based white ink composition for ink jet recording, comprising a white pigment, a glycol ether dialkyl ether compound solvent, a polymeric dispersant, and a specific acrylic resin. The white pigment is formed of titanium oxide fine particles having an average particle diameter of not less than 0.15 &#x3bc;m and not more than 0.25 &#x3bc;m and coated with at least one of aluminum oxide and silicon oxide. The white pigment is further coated with not less than 0.01% by mass and not more than 2.5% by mass of at least one of an SiH-containing polysiloxane and dimethylpolysiloxane.

Oil-based white ink jet recording composition and process for producing the same

An oil-based ink composition for inkjet recording capable of exhibiting desired properties of drying after print, rubfastness and re-solubility is achieved by performing solubilization on an acrylic resin which is not easily dissolved conventionally. The object of the invention is to provide an oil ink set capable of obtaining images having high color reproduction capabilities and high color saturation in particular. The oil ink set of the invention comprises a firsts a second, and a third oil ink having a wavelength region in which the reflectivity of each oil ink on a recording medium changes from 80% to 5% in the wavelength range of 400 nm to 700 nm. In this wavelength region, the reflectivity of the first oil ink is continuously higher than that of the first oil ink, and in the wavelength in which the reflectivity of the second oil ink changes from 80% to 5%, the reflectivity of the third oil ink is continuously higher than that of the second oil ink.
