The intensity of a light beam is controlled accurately depending on an image to be recorded on a photosensitive medium. An apparatus for recording an image by scanning a photosensitive medium with a light beam generated based on an image signal has a recording duty ratio detector for detecting a recording duty ratio of an image to be recorded on the photosensitive medium based on the image signal, and a light beam intensity correcting memory for modulating the intensity of the light beam based on the detected recording duty ratio. Since the intensity of the light beam is modulated based on the recording duty ratio of the image recorded on the photosensitive medium, the amount of light of the light beam can be adjusted depending on the image actually recorded on the photosensitive medium.

The light beam scanning method and apparatus perform light beam scanning of a cylindrical internal surface scanning type, a cylindrical external surface scanning type, and a plane scanning type, where when a sheet-like object to be scanned is scanned by a light beam emitted from a light source, at least one of lateral displacement and longitudinal displacement of a light beam and aberration in an optical system is compensated by controlling a wave front of the light beam with a wavefront control device. Also, when the lateral displacement, longitudinal displacement, and the aberration are caused by change of an environmental temperature, it is possible to measure the environmental temperature and to perform compensation through the control of the wave front by the wavefront control device based on the measured environmental temperature. Also, when scanning is performed using a plurality of light beams, it is possible to align scanning positions of the plurality of light beams in an auxiliary scanning direction in a parallel manner by displacing the scanning positions through the control of the wave front of at least one light beam using the wavefront control device.

Light beam scanning method and apparatus compensating for defects

The optical modulator includes an optical waveguide for receiving light entered from a first end surface thereof and for emitting the light from a second end surface opposing to the first end surface, a flexible light transmitting member disposed so as to face with a boundary surface of the optical waveguide and has a gap between the flexible light transmitting member and the boundary surface of the optical waveguide and a modulation device for bringing the flexible light transmitting member into contact with the boundary surface of the optical waveguide. The image recording apparatus includes the above exposure head and a scanning device for relatively moving a photosensitive material and the exposure head.

This invention relates to a focal position adjusting apparatus having a lens which converges an electromagnetic wave to a focal position; first electrodes fixed to the lens; second electrodes being opposed arranged so as to be spaced apart from each of the electrodes in the optical axis direction of the lens; a power supply which supplies variable voltage which applies voltage to the first electrodes and the second electrodes and a biasing unit which biases the lens in a direction using an attractive force caused by static electricity between each of the first and second electrodes and the opposed electrodes caused by the application of a voltage.

Focal position adjusting apparatus, exposure head, and image recording apparatus

At an exposure section, a recording head carries out exposure processing by irradiating a light beam from a fiber array light source through a collimator lens and a condensing lens to a printing plate. A temperature sensor of the recording head measures temperature of the recording head. A pulse motor is driven on the basis of the measured temperature, and thus a separation between the collimator lens and the condensing lens is adjusted. Consequently, regardless of expansion or contraction of the recording head due to temperature changes, the separation between the collimator lens and the condensing lens can be kept constant by the pulse motor. Therefore, even when the light beam incident on the condensing lens is divergent, a shift in magnification of the recorded image can be prevented regardless of the temperature variations of the recording head.
