A DPF controller () generates, as image information, a layout identifier (MEN) that specifies the layout of an image to be displayed on a liquid crystal display device (), and an element image identifier (SEN) that specifies the display mode of element images that are being subjected to layout. When an SEN is newly determined and the newly determined SEN is equal to a previously determined SEN, the newly determined SEN is not output to a drawing controller ().

Image information generation device

A display system of the present invention includes a liquid crystal platform section () which outputs display data for displaying, on a liquid crystal display section (), an image in accordance with information obtained from an automobile. The liquid crystal platform section () includes a DIC () which generates display data and calculates a display position of the image to be displayed on the liquid crystal display section () from the obtained information and which causes the generated display data to be displayed in the calculated image display position. The DIC () updates display so that the image moves at frame intervals from a start position of image display to the image display position calculated from the automobile information currently obtained, when an interval at which the information is obtained is longer than each of the frame intervals for displaying the image. The start position is the image display position having been calculated from the information obtained immediately before the information currently obtained. This makes it possible to realize a display system including an image display device whose change in image can be reliably tracked by eyes of a driver (human being).

A DPF controller () easily generates a display identifier and a speech identifier for providing an image and a speech required for driving a mobile body such as an automobile, etc. from state information representing the state of each part of the mobile body. In order to generate a layout identifier (MEN) for specifying a layout of an image to be displayed on a liquid crystal display device (), an element image identifier (SEN) for specifying a display form of an element image in the layout, and a speech identifier of speech data to be output as display identifiers, the DPF controller () matches a MEN/SEN determining table () that stores an identifier table defining a correspondence relation between state information (D) and a MEN, a correspondence relation between the state information (D) and a SEN, a correspondence relation between the MEN and the SEN, and a correspondence relation between the state information (D) and a speech identifier with the state information (D) collected from ECUs (, . . . ) in each part of the mobile body.

An on-vehicle display control unit includes a CPU to which vehicle data of various kinds are inputted and a graphic LSI arranged to generate display data to be outputted to a display. The graphic LSI is arranged to generate predetermined display data from image data generated by a meter ECU. However, if there is a problem in a state of the meter ECU or an input status of 3D moving picture data, the graphic LSI receives a fail safe control from the CPU (), thereby to generate fail safe display data corresponding to the predetermined display data. This realizes an on-vehicle display system capable of stably displaying important vehicle information.

A steerable vehicle information display system is provided, in which images remain undisturbed even if a momentary power interruption occurs. The steerable vehicle information display system comprises: a DPF controller (), which acquires status information (Dto D) from the ECUs of each section of a motor vehicle with a predetermined periodicity; a rendering controller (), which generates component images representative of the status of each section of the motor vehicle based on the status information (Dto D) and generates a composite image of a motor vehicle dashboard by compositing the generated component images; and a nonvolatile memory (), which stores the status information (Dto D) or intermediate information generated from the status information, with the information being at least the latest information. If any of the status information (Dto D) is not acquired, the rendering controller () generates the informational image using information read from the nonvolatile memory () and displays it on the liquid crystal display device ().

Steerable vehicle information display system, as well as cockpit module and steerable vehicle incorporating the system

An instrument panel display system displays vehicle information, amenity information, and safety information as images. In this instrument panel display system, data (image data, image layout data, and image output control data) for displaying the images are generated in a shared manner by a vehicle system processor, an amenity system processor, and a safety system processor. On account of this, the stability of image display on an instrument panel of a vehicle or the like is improved and hence safety of driving is increased.

Display system

In an image information generation device, based on status information representing statuses of various sections of a mobile unit such as a motor vehicle, image information used to display an image required, for instance, for steering this mobile unit on a display device is generated easily. In order to generate, as the image information, a layout identifier that specifies a layout of an image to be displayed on the liquid crystal display device and a component image identifier that specifies a display mode of each component image in the layout, the DPF controller compares the MEN/SEN judging table that stores an identifier table in which a correlation between the status information and the MEN, a correlation between the status information and the SEN, and a correlation between the MEN and the SEN are defined with the status information collected from the ECUs in the various sections of the mobile unit.

A display system includes a combination image dividing section arranged to divide a single combination image composed of a plurality of item images into a plurality of image blocks such that each of the image blocks has an item image; an image inputting controlling section arranged to lay out the individual image blocks; and an image inputting controlling section arranged to generate display data based on the image blocks laid out thereby. This can achieve a display system, to be mounted in the maneuverable moving object and having high degrees of freedom for screen layout, at a lower cost.
