A thermosensitive stencil paper having a thermoplastic resin film and a porous resin layer which is provided on the thermoplastic resin film by coating a porous resin layer formation coating liquid including a water-in-oil emulsion of a resin on the thermoplastic resin film and drying the coating liquid. In addition, the method of producing the above-mentioned thermosensitive stencil paper is also disclosed.

Heat-sensitive stencil, process of fabricating same and printer using same

A heat-sensitive stencil having a thermoplastic resin film, and a porous resin layer formed thereon. The stencil has an air permeability in the range of 1.0 cm /cm &middot;sec to 157 cm /cm &middot;sec in a portion thereof when the thermoplastic resin film of the portion is perforated to form perforations providing an open ratio S /S of at least 0.2, wherein S represents a total area of the perforations and S represents the area of the portion. The heat-sensitive stencil is prepared by applying a coating liquid containing the resin of the porous resin layer to the thermoplastic resin film and drying the coating. The coating liquid contains a mixture of a good solvent and a poor solvent less vaporizable than the good solvent so that the porous resin layer is formed after drying.

Heat-sensitive stencil and method of fabricating same

A heat-sensitive stencil having a thermoplastic resin film, and a porous resin layer formed thereon. The stencil has an air permeability in the range of 1.0 cm.sup.3 /cm.sup.2 .multidot.sec to 157 cm.sup.3 /cm.sup.2 .multidot.sec in a portion thereof when the thermoplastic resin film of the portion is perforated to form perforations providing an open ratio S.sub.O /S.sub.P of at least 0.2, wherein S.sub.O represents a total area of the perforations and S.sub.P represents the area of the portion. The heat-sensitive stencil is prepared by applying a coating liquid containing the resin of the porous resin layer to the thermoplastic resin film and drying the coating. The coating liquid contains a mixture of a good solvent and a poor solvent less vaporizable than the good solvent so that the porous resin layer is formed after drying.

A heat-sensitive stencil including a porous support, and a thermoplastic resin film laminated on the support and having a surface smoothness of at least 10,000 seconds. The stencil is fabricated by bonding a thermoplastic resin film to a porous support with an adhesive having a specific viscosity and a specific volatile matter content, while maintaining each of the support and the film under a specific tension. The stencil may also be fabricated by applying a coating composition containing a resin and first and second solvents having a specific solubility and specific evaporation rates, and drying the applied composition to form a porous support. A printing master is produced by heating the above stencil imagewise by a thermal head with a heating energy of not greater than 0.05 mJ/dot.

A stencil base sheet includes a thermoplastic resin film, with a surface of the stencil base sheet on the side of the thermoplastic resin film having a surface smoothness of at least 6000 seconds. From this stencil base sheet, a printing master is prepared by use of a heat-emitting resistor with the application of electric signals thereto with pulse modulation corresponding to image recording density, thereby forming perforations of a different size corresponding to recording image density in the stencil base sheet by thermal fusing. Furthermore, a monochrome or multi-color stencil printing is performed by using the printing master.

In a printer using a stencil, a drum and a stencil feed and discharge unit are constructed integrally with each other. Hence, a stencil can be fed, cut by a thermal head, wrapped around the drum, and then discharged without being cut off. Even a stencil substantially implemented by a thermoplastic resin film, which is thin and soft, can be transported without being creased or otherwise deformed.

A thermosensitive stencil paper includes a thermoplastic resin film, and optionally a porous support for supporting the resin film thereon, and a silicone oil containing layer formed the resin film, which contains at least one modified silicone oil component selected from the group consisting of (a) an ether.cndot.epoxy-modified silicone oil having both an epoxy group and an ether group and (b) an ether-modified silicone oil with HLB of 6 or less. The above thermosensitive stencil paper can be produced by coating a coating liquid which contains at least one of the above-mentioned modified silicone oils in an amount of 2.0 g/m.sup.2 or less before the drying of the coating liquid.

Thermosensitive stencil paper and the method of producing the same

A W/O emulsion ink for use in stencil printing is composed of an oil phase and a water phase with the respective ratios by wt. % thereof being (20 to 40):(80 to 60). The oil phase is composed of a solvent component containing a volatile solvent with an initial boiling point of 150.degree. to 210.degree. C. and a nonvolatile solvent, with the respective ratios by wt. % thereof being (10 to 30):(90 to 70), a coloring agent, a resin, and a surface-active agent, with the amount of the resin in the oil phase being in the range of 2 to 8 wt. % of the total weight of the emulsion.

A thermosensitive stencil paper is composed of a thermosensitive stencil film and an overcoat layer formed thereon which contains a higher-alcohol-ester-modified silicone oil as a sticking-prevention agent. A porous substrate may be attached to the back side of the stencil film by use of an adhesive agent.

A thermosensitive stencil paper is composed of a substrate and a thermoplastic resin film formed thereon, which thermoplastic resin film has projections in the surface portion thereof, with a printing roughness (R.sub.p) of 2.2 to 5.0 .mu.m, which is a physical quantity proportional to the average depth of the depressions in the surface portion thereof pressed against a standard surface.

A thermosensitive stencil paper in which a thermoplastic resin layer is formed on a porous tissue paper containing natural fibers therein, serving as a porous substrate, with plant elements contained in the porous tissue paper selected in such a fashion that (1) plant elements having a maximum width ranging from 100 .mu.m to 5 mm, a maximum length ranging from 100 .mu.m to 5 mm, and an area of 7800 .mu.m.sup.2 or more, when measured in a posture which provides a maximum area of the plant element are present in a number of 150 or less in a 100 cm.sup.2 area of the porous tissue paper; and (2) plant elements having a maximum width ranging from 300 .mu.m to 5 mm, a maximum length ranging from 300 .mu.m to 5 mm, and an area of 70,000 .mu.m.sup.2 or more are present in a number of 25 or less in a 100 cm.sup.2 area of the porous tissue paper.
