A method is provided for producing an impact resistant solid cosmetic such as cheek rouge, powder, foundation and two way foundation by compacting powder materials into a dish mold. The powder materials are compression molded into a dish mold under a pressure of 200-300 kgf/cm at a temperature of 10-30&deg; C. The powder materials contain 0.1-50.0 wt % of a spherical organopolysiloxane elastomer having a JIS A hardness of 60-100, and a mean particle size of 0.1-200 &mgr;m. The cosmetic optionally contains 1.0-30.0 wt % of an oily ingredient.

Method of producing an impact resistant solid cosmetic composition

The invention provides an external-use composition imparting no sticky sensation in use, particularly an external-use composition for a cosmetic composition exhibiting excellent retention during use, by finding a gelling agent for an oily ingredient, particularly for silicone oil. A pigment containing low-order titanium oxide of this invention is characterized in that both aluminum oxide and silicon oxide exist together with low-order titanium oxide. A method of manufacturing such a pigment comprises the steps of; presenting an aluminum compound and silicon as a reducing agents together with titanium dioxide: and then heating and reducing the mixture in an atmosphere having a low oxygen content. According to this method, the pigment containing low-order titanium oxide can efficiently be manufactured, while preventing sintering generated due to the fusion between the reducing agents or the reducing agents and powders.

A titanium-mica composite material including (i) mica, (ii) a first coating composed of a titanium compound or a mixture thereof containing titanium dioxide coated on the surface of the mica, and (iii) a second coating composed of titanium dioxide coated on the first coating. The titanium compound in the first coating is at least one compound selected from the group consisting of low oxides of titanium and titanium oxynitrides.
