A system for selective fluid treatment of formation areas to remove formation damage may include an access module configured to access log data associated with a well. The system may include one or more hardware processors configured to identify a formation area as a treatment candidate area based on at least one of a permeability value associated with the formation area or a porosity value associated with the formation area. The one or more hardware processors may be configured to determine, based on reservoir modelling, a current depth of invasion value associated with the formation area, determine a volume of drilling mud buildup in the formation area based on the current depth of invasion value, and determine a treatment fluid volume value that identifies a volume of treatment fluid for application to the formation area to remove the formation damage from the formation area during a formation damage removal process.

A valve capsule assembly for a well includes a body including a first end, a second end, a cavity, and an exterior surface. The body is sized for positioning inside a bore of a casing. A sealing element is coupled to the exterior surface of the body and is configured for sealing with an interior surface of the casing. A cone is movably disposed in the cavity of the body between the sealing element and the second end of the body. A slip coupled to the exterior surface of the body and is movable between a deactivated configuration and an activated configuration, in which the slip is configured to expand and engage with the interior surface of the casing. When the cone is in a first position, the slip is in the deactivated configuration and when the cone is in a second position, the slip is in the activated configuration.

A method for logging a well that includes providing a production logging tool (PLT) with at least one sensor which is covered by a protective sleeve. The method includes deploying the PLT from a logging unit at a surface location of a wellsite into a wellbore of the well. The method includes the PLT receiving a command to acquire well data of a flowstream in the wellbore of the well to form a well log. The method includes acquiring the well data of the flowstream using the PLT, determining that the sensor is contaminated based on the acquired well data, performing a cleaning cycle to clean the sensor using the protective sleeve, then transmitting the well data to the logging unit.

A downhole robotic fishing tool includes a main body configured to be positioned in a wellbore and an intermediate body connected to a downhole end of the main body by an upper articulating joint. A robotic hand is connected to a downhole end of the intermediate body by a lower articulating joint. The robotic hand is configurable between an open configuration and a closed configuration and includes a palm, a robotic thumb and a robotic finger attached at their respective proximal ends to the palm in opposition. When in the closed configuration, the distal ends of the thumb and finger are within a grasp center area centered on a center point defined by an intersection of a grasping axis and an opposition axis of the robotic hand. A camera is positioned on the palm that has an optical axis that intersects the grasp center area proximate the center point.

A method may include obtaining caliper log data regarding a well. The method may further include determining, using a descaling model and the caliper log data, various predicted caliper log values for a descaled well. The descaled well may correspond to the well following a scale treatment. The method may further include determining whether the descaled well satisfies a predetermined criterion based on the predicted caliper log values. The method may further include determining, in response to determining that the descaled well fails to satisfy the predetermined criterion, a tubular replacement for the well. The method may further include transmitting, to a control system, a command that implements the tubular replacement.

Method and system for predicting caliper log data for descaled wells

A method for performing a maintenance operation of a well in an oil/gas field. The method includes identifying an extent of corrosion deposit of the well, predicting, using a descaling model of the oil/gas field and based on the extent of corrosion deposit, expected descaling metal loss in a tubular of the well, calculating, based on the expected descaling metal loss, a tubular burst/collapse pressure for a predicted thickness of the tubular, comparing the tubular burst/collapse pressure against a well operating pressure to generate a comparison result, and performing the maintenance operation of the well based on the comparison result.

Well tubing/casing corrosion deposits descaling model

The well system includes a casing and production tubing and a control unit that can receive measurements of temperature and pressure of fluid in the tubing-casing annulus (TCA). A subsurface safety valve (SSSV) connected to the tubing can switch to an open or closed state in response to a change in pressure of the fluid. An expected thermal expansion or contraction of the TCA fluid is calculated based on the received measurements, and the control unit determines, based on the expected thermal expansion or contraction and on a calculated TCA volume, a volume necessary to be added to or released from the TCA to maintain the fluid within an optimal pressure range. The control unit can also receive an indication of an emergency condition and transmit a signal to activate a release valve to release from the TCA a volume of fluid sufficient to cause the SSSV to close.
