A method and apparatus for monitoring collection of subject condition data is provided. The method includes receiving a value of a parameter of subject condition data and a value of a sample time, for each of a plurality of sample times. The method also includes storing the subject condition data in a data structure including a first field for holding data indicating a current sample time and a second field for holding data indicating the value of the parameter. The method also includes determining a time gap defined by a duration between the current sample time and a most recent sample time and determining whether the time gap exceeds a time gap threshold and causing an apparatus to perform remedial action. A method for presenting the subject condition data on a display is also provided.

Method and apparatus for monitoring collection of physiological patient data

A method is provided for predicting that a patient will require a blood transfusion during a treatment. The method includes obtaining, on a processor, first data that indicates values for one or more parameters of a characteristic of a continuous photoplethysmographic (PPG) waveform collected during the treatment. The method further includes applying, on the processor, coefficients to the values for the one or more parameters. The method further includes determining, on the processor, second data that indicates a prediction that the patient will require the blood transfusion during the treatment based on applying the coefficients to the values for the one or more parameters. An apparatus is also provided for predicting that the patient will require the blood transfusion during the treatment.

Method and apparatus for predicting a need for a blood transfusion

A method is provided for predicting that a caregiver will order a blood transfusion during a treatment. The method includes obtaining, on a processor, first data that indicates values for one or more parameters of a characteristic of a peak of a Fourier transform of a continuous photoplethysmographic (PPG) waveform or a continuous electrocardiogram (ECG) waveform or both collected during the treatment. The method further includes applying, on the processor, coefficients to the values for the one or more parameters. The method further includes determining, on the processor, second data that indicates a prediction that the caregiver will order the blood transfusion during the treatment based on applying the coefficients to the values. The method further includes presenting on a display device output data based on the second data. An apparatus is also provided for predicting that the caregiver will order the blood transfusion during the treatment.

Method and apparatus for predicting a use for a blood transfusion

Techniques for automated surgeon performance evaluation include dressing an operator with colored surgical gloves. A first glove for a dominant hand has a first color and a second glove for the other hand has a different second color. Video data that views the operator's hands is captured during a surgical procedure on a subject. For each of multiple frames of the video data, a minimum rectangle of pixels, called a first rectangle, which encloses pixels having the first color, is determined automatically on a processor. A first time series for a representative property of the first rectangle at the multiple frames, and a first measure of entropy based on the first time series, are also automatically determined on a processor. A metric of operator performance based at least in part on the first measure of entropy is stored, e.g., for subsequent display.
