An underwater pipe, including a metal reinforcing layer around an inner polymeric sealing sheath capable of being in contact with hydrocarbons. The inner polymeric sealing sheath includes a homopolymeric polypropylene or a mixture of homopolymeric polypropylenes, wherein the homopolymeric polypropylene or the mixture has a density greater than 0.900 g/cm, and a melt index measured at 230&#xb0; C. under a mass of 2.16 kg of less than 10 g/10 minutes, its preparation method and its use for the transport of hydrocarbons. Such a sheath may be used in contact with hydrocarbons at high temperature.

The invention relates to a method for evaluating the fatigue life of a polymer composition, including the following steps: i) providing a polymer composition; ii) manufacturing a plurality of axisymmetric test tubes cut from said composition; iii) subjecting said test tubes to a uniaxial traction fatigue test including a plurality of loading and unloading cycles for the test tube, the geometry of the test tube making it possible to subject the material to triaxial stresses, in the area of the test tube cut, simulating the stress conditions for the pressure sheath of a flexible pipe, particularly for off-shore use; and iv) predetermining the number of cycles until the rupture of said polymer composition. The invention is related to the use of said polymer composition selected through the predetermining method for manufacturing pipes or conduits to convey a pressurized and/or corrosive fluid.

Method for predetermining the fatigue life of polymer composition

A method and a device for measuring the movement of a subsea pipeline. The measuring device has an accommodating mount anchored in the sea bed to accept the subsea pipeline. The subsea pipeline is liable to be made to move over a determined travel with respect to the accommodating support as the pipelines deforms. The movement has an amplitude that varies according to the deformation of the subsea pipeline. A plurality of frangible elements secured to one of either the deformable subsea pipeline and the accommodating mount. The frangible elements are intended to be broken in succession by the other of either the deformable subsea pipeline and the accommodating mount when the pipeline is caused to move.
