The invention refers to a container () for optical disks (), a tray () for such container () and a magazine type player () adapted to be used with such container (). Object of the invention is to provide a container () for optical disks () in which many disks () may be stored within a comparatively small space. According to the invention the container () comprises a slidable tray (), guiding means () for guiding said tray (), a cover plate () and a bottom plate (), wherein the thickness of said tray () substantially equals the sum of thicknesses of said cover plate () and said bottom plate ().

A scanning device for magazine-type storage media, especially magazine player for optical disks, and a method to drive such player, the player being provided to cooperate with a magazine-type container having extremely dense packaging of storage media, where the storage media are secured against damages even when they are removed from the container. The disks are coupled to trays of the container. For playback the container is inserted into a playback device, a tray of the container is moved into a playback position, a disk is released from the tray and coupled to a mechadeck for playback.

Reproduction and/or recording device for optical recording media having a unit for adjusting the inclination of a bearing, is disclosed. The device includes a unit for adjusting the inclination of a bearing of a laser disk scanning apparatus, which has a board to which the bearing is fastened. The inclination of the bearing can be set with regard to the board by setting units, which alters the distance between the board and the bearing, the selling units each having at least one elastic element, is known. In order to improve the device to the extent that its individual components are inexpensive to produce and the adjustment can be carried out rapidly and in a simple manner, it is provided that the board has at least two elastic lugs, which are connected to the bearing. The inclinations of the lugs can be set with regard to the board by setting units, which act on the lugs.

Reproduction and/or recording device for optical recording media having a unit for adjusting the inclination of a bearing

The invention relates to an apparatus for the recording or for the reproduction of information with a drive system for a scanning device for reading or writing information in one or more tracks of a recording medium. The object of the invention is to provide a drive system for a scanning device which requires little outlay and satisfies the requirements in respect of high positioning accuracy, short access time and self-locking. According to the invention, this object is achieved by means of a drive system comprising a toothed rack arrangement, a straight-toothed gearwheel and a worm, without a helically toothed worm wheel being necessary. For the purpose of an engagement in the straight-toothed gearwheel, the worm is arranged at an angle with respect to the axis of the gearwheel, which angle corresponds to the lead of the said worm. The field of application of the invention is associated with apparatuses for the recording or for the reproduction of information with a drive system for a scanning device for reading or writing information in one or more tracks of a recording medium, such as, for example, a CD, DVD, an erasable CD or DVD or else a magneto-optical recording medium.

A power transmission system with a gearwheel and a toothed rack, having an engagement securing system that ensures increased power transmission and protection of the toothing in the end region of the rack. According to the invention the engagement securing system comprises a lug disposed on the rack, which lug engages a guide connected to the gearwheel. In the exemplary embodiment the guide comprises a groove disposed on a disk coupled to the gearwheel. Advantageously, no additional individual parts are required. The range of applications includes an automatic transport securing system in recording or playback equipment for optical, magneto-optical or other recording media, as well as other rack drive systems that require increased power transmission in the end region of the rack.

A cassette for use with a recording apparatus comprises: a housing for a recording medium, the housing having a first surface and side walls, the recording medium being accessible through one of the side walls; at least a part of a chip card affixed to the housing, forming a second surface of the housing and closing the cassette, the chip card part having a memory formed integrally therewith and externally accessible contacts; and, the contacts of the chip card being positioned on the second surface to be engageable by corresponding contacts in the recording apparatus when the cassette is inserted therein. One of the side walls has an access door for the recording medium and the second surface forms an upper wall of the housing as defined by the access door. The part of the chip card forming the second surface of the housing has a marking position at which light transmissivity can be controlled. The marking position can be rendered non transmissive to light to prevent recording.

Tape drive

An actuating device for a pinch roller in a tape recording and/or playing device has a capstan spindle driven by a mechanism supported on a chassis. A pinch lever supports the pinch roller. At least one drive lever is rotatably coupled to the pinch lever and mounted to pivot about a fixed axis normal to the chassis for swiveling the pinch roller between resting and working positions. A spring connects the pinch lever and the at least one drive lever for urging the pinch roller against the capstan spindle only in the working position. A first guide controls the swiveling of the at least one drive lever. A lift roller is rotatably supported by the pinch lever and disposed in proximity to the pinch roller. The lift roller has a cylindrical region and a conical region having a diameter which increases in a direction away from the chassis. A second guide controls engagement of the pinch roller and the capstan spindle in response to the swiveling and in the working position by imparting a motion to the pinch lever in the direction away from the chassis during the swiveling. In an embodiment having two drive levers, the first and second drive levers and the spring form an inherently rigid lever system when the pinch roller is not in the working position.

A magnetic tape cassette recorder, comprising: take-up and feed spools for winding and unwinding a magnetic tape carried in a removable cassette; a tumbler gear mounted for swinging motion about a stationary shaft and movable between the take-up and feed spools; a motor, disposed outside the cassette when the cassette is operatively inserted in the recorder, for selectively driving the take-up and feed spools through the tumbler gear; a capstan driven by the motor; a pinch roller for pressing the magnetic tape against the capstan; a transmission mechanism driven by the motor and having a planetary gear assembly, including a planet carrier, for driving the tumbler gear; first and second annular coupling parts rotatably stacked along the stationary shaft; a third coupling part connected to the planet carrier and rotatably stacked between the first and second coupling parts, defining respective sets of opposing facing surfaces between the third coupling part and each of the first and second coupling parts; a frictional element stacked between each of the respective sets of opposing facing surfaces; and, a stop lever for selectively preventing: (a.) one of the first and second coupling parts from rotating; (b.) both of the first and second coupling parts from rotating; and, (c.) both of the first and second coupling parts and the planet carrier from rotating, thereby controlling coupling forces driving the take-up and feed spools under different operating modes.

Drive arrangement for magnetic tape cassette recorders

A cassette loading facility has a guide frame arranged on a chassis in a fixed position. A receiving device is movable between a loading position, in which a cassette can be introduced and removed therefrom, and an operating position. The cassette is positioned on the chassis by means of positioning pins and catch apertures which are formed on the cassette housing. The catch apertures lock the cassette during its transportation between the loading and the operating position and also center it in the operating position. Instead of a fixed arrangement on the drive chassis, the positioning pins are fixed on a first pivoted lever which is pivotally mounted on the cassette receiving device and which can be pivoted into a first position in which the positioning pins release the cassette so that the cassette can be introduced into the cassette receiving device and removed therefrom, and can be pivoted into a second position in which the positioning pins engage with the catch apertures of the cassette whereby the pivoting of the first pivoted lever from the first position into the second position and vice versa is carried out at the loading position of the cassette receiving device. The cassette is locked in the cassette receiving device during its loading or unloading process by the positioning pins engaging with its catch apertures. Upon reaching the operating position, the lower ends of the positioning pins each engage with correspondingly arranged centering apertures in the chassis.

Cassette loading device having decreased loading effort

A braking device for a tape player/recorder includes a pair of reel platters and a pair of pivotable brake arms individually supporting brake pads. A tension member biases the brake pads against the reel platters in a brake-applied position. The brake arms have extensions extending to a selected point. A spring biased pivotable lever arm includes a tracking end and an actuating end. The actuating end engages the brake arms at the selected point to bias the brake pads away from the reel platters against the action of the tension member in a brake-released position. A lifting element is coaxial with a motor driven shaft and includes a helical ramp extending around the lifting element and rising from a lower level to a higher level. An adjusting element is coaxial with the shaft and is outside of the lifting element. The adjusting element includes lower and higher faces respectively coincident with the lower and higher levels of the ramp. The adjusting element also biases the pivotable lever from the lower face to the helical ramp to enable the tracking end of the lever to rise from the lower level to the upper level and place the braking device into the brake-released position. A clutch disengages the adjusting element from the shaft in the brake-released position.
