A radial blower, in particular, for a breathing apparatus, has a blower housing with a central, axial intake opening and a radial or approximately tangential outlet opening as well as a motor-driven radial blower wheel arranged axially between the intake opening and the outlet opening. The radial blower wheel has a cover disk at the axial side facing the outlet opening with such a large diameter that between the outer circumference of the cover disk and an inner circumferential surface of the housing a constricted annular flow gap for the medium flowing through the radial blower wheel in the direction toward the outlet opening is formed.

The motor operates quietly and with unusual reliability, and is well adapted for driving a fan.

Electronically commutated DC motor

An electronically commutated motor has a rotor and a stator interacting with one another. A semiconductor control member controls a motor current supplied to the stator. An arrangement is provided that detects values of the motor current which surpass a preset threshold value and generates a first signal upon surpassing the threshold value. An arrangement is provided that determines rotational speed values of the motor, which surpass a preset rotational speed, and generates a second signal upon surpassing the preset rotational speed. An arrangement is provided that combines the first and second signals for generating a combined signal, wherein the combined signal acts substantially without temporal delay on the semiconductor control member and reduces the motor current to a value which is greater than zero.

Electronically commutated motor

An electronically commutated motor ( ) has a permanent-magnet rotor ( ) and has a stator ( ) that has two winding phases ( ). During one rotor rotation of el., firstly current is delivered to the one winding phase ( ) within a first rotation angle range via an associated first semiconductor switch ( ); and within a subsequent second rotation angle range, current is delivered to the other winding phase ( ) via an associated second semiconductor switch ( ). The motor further has a commutation apparatus for alternatingly switching ON the first semiconductor switch ( ) and the second semiconductor switch ( ). This commutation apparatus comprises a bistable multivibrator (FF ) whose switching state is controlled, via at least one comparator ( ), by the voltage that is induced by the permanent-magnet rotor ( ) in that winding phase ( or ) which is currentless at that instant and which, in the instantaneous rotation angle range of the rotor ( ), is not being supplied with current via its associated semiconductor switch ( or ).

An electronically commutated motor ( ) has a stator ( ) with two winding phases ( ) which are alternatingly supplied with current during one rotor rotation through &deg; cl. The motor also has a permanent-magnet rotor ( ) which, when the motor ( ) is currentless, assumes at least one predefined rotational position from which the rotor starts in a desired rotation direction upon excitation of a predefined winding phase. A bistable multivibrator ( ), which is controlled by the voltage that is induced by the rotor in the instantaneously currentless winding phase, is provided for alternatingly switching on the two winding phases. The bistable multivibrator ( ) has an electrical preferred position ( ) that it assumes when the motor ( ) is switched on, in order to supply power, during the switching-on operation, to the predefined winding phase and thereby to allow the rotor to start in the desired rotation direction. The motor current can be temporarily increased at startup in order to increase the torque at startup.

A flat portable fan with an impeller on a motor shaft and a commutatorless direct current motor is provided having a printed circuit board in the stator and an axially magnetized permanent magnet in the rotor. The circuit board comprises a printed circuit having electronic components of the fan drive and is made from an iron base material with an insulating layer, which carries the stator windings and an axial starting bearing for the rotor. The impeller is mounted in a cylindrical rotor mounting support and is driven by the axially magnetized permanent magnet. The iron base material and the permanent magnet substantially define a planar air gap.

Axially compact small fan

A DC motor has a housing having an air gap and a stator coil is positioned in the air gap. First and second permanent magnet rotors are coaxially arranged to one another in the housing on opposite sides of the air gap. The first and second permanent magnet rotors are mounted in the housing without being mechanically connected to one another. In another embodiment, a flat stator coil is provided. At least one permanent magnet rotor has an axially magnetized annular rotor magnet, a plastic part as a support for the rotor magnet, a shaft mounted in the plastic part, and a soft magnetic ground element snapped into the plastic part. The rotor magnet is fastened to the soft magnetic ground element. In another embodiment, a housing having first and second cup-shaped housing parts is provided. The first housing part has a first bottom and the second housing part has a second bottom. The first and second bottoms form an air gap therebetween. A flat stator coil is positioned in the air gap. In yet another embodiment, a stator support with an air gap is provided. A stator coil is wound onto the stator support within the air gap and an axle is mounted centrally thereon. First and second permanent magnet rotors are coaxially arranged on opposite sides of the air gap. The first and second permanent magnet rotors are mounted without being mechanically connected to one another.

Electronically commutated DC

A mini-fan unit for cooling a printed circuit board has a collectorless dc motor and a fan wheel driven by the dc motor. The dc motor is a single phase, single core claw pole motor having a back iron free permanent magnet rotor. At least one positioning magnet defines the starting position of the dc motor.

Mini-fan unit especially for use as a fun printed circuit boards

A gas premix burner in which gas and air are mixed in a suction region of an impeller to form a combustion mixture. The impeller is associated with a blower housing and an electronic control circuit board, all of which are arranged upstream in a blower chamber having at least one flame separating wall. The arrangement prevents the gas and the combustion mixture from reaching the motor landings or the printed circuit board.

Blower for gas premix burners

A gas premix burner in which gas and air are mixed in a suction region of an impeller to form a combustion mixture. The impeller is associated with a blower housing and an electronic control circuit board, all of which are arranged upstream in a blower chamber having at least one time separating wall. The arrangement prevents the gas and the combustion mixture from reaching the motor landings or the primed circuit board.

An improved power supply for converting any of various standard national AC network voltages to low-voltage DC power suitable for driving a 1 or 2-watt device, such as a fan, features a semiconductor control circuit (18, FET 46) which chops each half-wave of a rectified voltage and uses the low-voltage portions to feed charging current pulses to a storage capacitor. The voltage on the capacitor (14) is used by other portions of the circuit to regulate rotation speed of the fan or other consuming device (40) to a value set on a variable resistor. The use of the low-voltage portions of the input signal reduces power losses and increases efficiency.

Power supply for low-voltage DC motor

A low noise brushless dc motor has a rotor with a permanent magnet and a stator with a bearing system mounting a shaft for rotating the rotor. The motor has an operating circuit that includes a tachometer winding connected to the base of a first transistor whose collector is in series with a first resistor. The other end of the tachometer winding is connected to the base of a second transistor whose collector is in series with a second resistor.

Low noise miniature electric motor

A step motor which, in addition to an exciter system for step-by-step movement, is provided with a further exciter system. As a result of the direct or indirect influence of the magnetic field generated by the secondary exciter system on the rotor which is supported so as to be able to move in an axial direction with respect to the stator, the rotor can be induced to move in a direction perpendicular to its step-by-step rotary motion, as well. Both exciter systems can be energized independently of one another, so that step-by-step rotary movement can be performed at any axial position of the rotor, and the rotor can be made to move in an axial direction during its rotary movement, as well as when it is at rest.

Motor with both stepped rotary and axial shift motions

A low noise brushless dc motor has a rotor with a permanent magnet and a stator with a bearing system mounting a shaft for rotating the rotor. The bearing system includes at least one axially extending bearing surface that terminates in axially spaced apart ends defining the outer axial limits of the bearing surface. Magnetic components of the rotor and the stator define a magnetic circuit. the magnetic components have an eccentricity creating an asymmetry in the magnetic circuit that causes a resultant lateral magnetic force to be applied on the shaft at a point axially inside the outer axial limits of the bearing surface, whereby the shaft exerts a pressure along the bearing surface between both ends of the bearing surface in a direction perpendicular to the rotor axis.
