Ground warp and pile warp thread sheets are supplied to a shed forming device. The ground warp and the pile warp are separately deflected over a deflecting rod upstream from the shed forming device. The deflecting rod supports the ground warp and directs the pile warp to cross and interpenetrate through the ground warp before deflecting the pile warp into the back shed. The deflecting rod is positively driven and controlled to pivot about a horizontal axis to provide a positive controlled partial compensation of the pile warp thread length variations. The pile warp also runs over a pile warp thread reserve and compensating device upstream from the thread crossing location to provide an additional passive uncontrolled compensation of the pile warp thread length variations and to provide a pile warp thread reserve during the pile loop formation and/or the shed changes in the weaving process.

A screw connection especially for heald shaft rods in a loom, includes a countersunk flathead female threaded nut and a countersunk flathead male threaded screw that engages the nut. To secure the nut against rotation when it is inserted into a stamped conical recess, an outer circumferential cylindrical section of the nut is provided with serrations that engage the edge of the stamped conical recess with a location-fit or press-fit, or friction-fit, whereby the screw can be conveniently connected to the nut, for example for clamping a roller bearing ring between two fork ends of a heald shaft connecting rod. The serrations on the outer surface of the female threaded nut have a first transition area (T1) that forms a lead-in first ramp (R1) for guiding the nut into a countersunk recess. The serrations also have a second transition area (T2) that leads onto a second ramp (R2) formed by a conical surface (3') of the female threaded nut for centering the nut in the conical recess and for maintaining the nut centered even if the screw is loosened.

Screw connection especially for a heald shaft connecting rod in a loom

A loom is equipped with a pneumatic slide bearing for guiding and supporting a weft insertion gripper carrier, which may be a rigid rapier rod or a flexible band. The pneumatic slide bearing supports and guides the weft gripper carrier in a nearly friction-free manner. The pneumatic slide bearing includes a bearing body (1) that is pivotally mounted on a bolt (3) and that extends along the lengthwise direction of the rapier rod (12) or around the circumferential direction of the flexible band (21). The bearing body (1) has an air channel (5) therein, and has a plurality of transverse holes (6) passing from the air channel out through a side wall. A bearing plate (8) with a plurality of transverse holes (9) therethrough is removably mounted along the side wall of the bearing body (1) so that the transverse holes (9) align with the transverse holes (6). The outlet ends of the transverse holes (9) are enlarged to form respective air pockets (10), which together serve to form a homogenous and stable air cushion between the rapier rod and the bearing plate (8). Removable air nozzles (11) may be screwed into the transverse holes.

A coupling device for connecting a heald shaft to a heald drive such as a push-pull rod and for disconnecting the heald shaft from the heald drive such as a push-pull rod has a plug-in member connected to the heald shaft and a socket member connected to the heald drive. The socket member is equipped with a toggle mechanism for locking and unlocking a pawl that engages or disengages the plug-in member. The toggle mechanism is spring loaded so that a separate locking device is not necessary. A plurality of such coupling devices are arranged in groups for operation in unison by a drive mechanism that includes a cam drive for each coupling device. All the cam drives for a group of coupling devices are secured to a splined shaft for operation in unison so that all coupling devices can be coupled or decoupled simultaneously.

Mechanism for simultaneously coupling or uncoupling a plurality of heald

A prepositioning and delivering mechanism for heald shafts is either permanently or temporarily attached to a loom for guiding the heald shafts when a shaft change is to be made. The mechanism has a carrier carrying prepositioning mechanisms each including a rocking lever and a guide roller. These mechanisms are arranged along a longitudinal axis of a journal axle (18) with a spacing that corresponds to a spacing pitch between heald shaft guide frames. Each roller of the prepositioning mechanism is engageable with a respective heald shaft. At least one of the heald shaft guides is engaged with a drive for delivering or advancing of the shaft guides toward the prepositioned heald shafts.
