A key-operated arrangement for teleprinters as a keyboard for encoding characters and data arranged in matrix fashion in rows and columns. Along with the keyboard an addressable fixed-value store is provided. A scanning device periodically scans the keyboard and fixed-value store and produces a coded character from the store when a signal is present which is provided by operation of a contact on the keyboard. At least one additional matrix column is arranged on the keyboard for special functions. A mode register connected via a column selector to the additional matrix column stores signals arriving from the scanning device and converts them into control signals which appear in parallel at outputs of the mode register.

Key-operated arrangement for producing code characters

A device for monitoring the supply of printing liquid in the reservoir of an ink-operated printer and the like, in which two monitoring electrodes are disposed in and wetted by the printing liquid, with circuit means being connected to the electrodes for monitoring the electrical resistance therebetween, which resistance varies in response to changes in the amount of ink in the reservoir. Means are provided, responsive to predetermined resistance values, for actuating at least one display element, and/or effecting disconnection of an associated printer. Additional circuit means may also be connected to the monitoring means for actuating a preliminary warning device prior to actual triggering of a display element indicating the exhaustion of the printing liquid supply. Means also may be provided for monitoring the supply of a data carrier, i.e. paper, which means may likewise be operatively connected to the display element, whereby the latter serves as a common display element to indicate both the operational status of the ink supply reservoir and the presence of a data carrier for receiving the printing.

Device for monitoring the ink supply in ink-operated printers

A shifting arrangement is provided for the exact space positioning of a writing carriage for office, teletype or data typewriters in which the writing carriage is moved step-by-step alongside of a record structure in accordance with a predetermined character positioning pattern. The writing carriage is driven by a stepping motor which has a rotary field. A specific number of angle positions of the stepping motor field serve as basic advance positions of the stepping motor in order to compensate for the load angle of the stepping motor during running of the writing carriage. Such basic advance positions are assigned to each character positioning point of the positioning pattern. An electronic device is provided for triggering the rotary field of the stepping motor and automatically adjusting this rotary field to the corresponding basic advance position during running and setting the field to a rest position during stopping of the stepping motor in order to correct for the stepping motor load angle.

Shifting arrangement for exact space positioning of a writing carriage

A device, particularly for driving recording or printing carriages in data recorders and the like, utilizing a linear motor, in which a current carrying coil is movably guided along a pair of ferromagnetic rails which are magnetically polarized by suitable magnetizing means to produce a directional field between the rails, whereby the current carrying coil is moved along the rails in response to current passing through the coil. Means are also provided for controlling the movement of the coil in predetermined stabilized steps.
