Method for focusing the shooting lens of a motion picture or video camera

A method for adjusting the picture definition on the camera lens of a motion picture camera. A drive unit is connected to the camera lens which is driven, in the manual focusing operation, by an picture definition handwheel of an operating unit, which displays the adjusted picture definition on a scale dial, and, in the automatic focusing operation, by an auto-focusing device for measuring the distance from an object to be recorded by the motion picture camera and outputting control signals to an electromechanical actuator, which is connected to the picture definition handwheel or to the scale dial of the operating unit, for adjusting or readjusting the picture definition adjusted on the picture definition handwheel or displayed on the scale dial as a function of the distance measured from the object to be recorded.

Method and apparatus for adjusting the picture definition on the camera lens of a motion picture camera

A film guide for a movie camera having an image window which is arranged in a recording beam path of the movie camera, a gripper platform which is supported on the image window, between whose mutually facing film planes a film channel is formed through which a movie film is moved by a film transport mechanism, and a spacing window which is connected to the gripper platform. The spacing window is supported on the image window in such a manner that the film channel narrows to form a film gap between the mutually facing film planes of the image window and the spacing window.

Film guide for a movie camera

A film camera is disclosed which is equipped with a device for recording synchronizing data, for use in automated post processing, wherein, for example, timing data is exposed onto the film by means of an optical display element activated by an activator unit and with a rotary shutter positioned so that at a first half rotation of the shutter the light entering through the camera objective is deflected through the viewfinder and during the second half rotation of the shutter the light enters an image window and wherein the activator unit comprises a shutter drive which controls the actuation of the shutter over which the rotating shutter is held in an arrested position covering the image window during exposure of the film by the optical display element.

Film camera with data recordation

A control system for an objective of the camera, in particular a film camera, includes one or several drive units for automatically positioning at least one lens ring, e.g., for adjusting the focus position, the opening of the iris diaphragm and/or the focal length. The drive units can be used to adjust the lens ring(s) to a predefined set position. A device coupled to each of the lens rings determines the actual position of the lens rings relative to the objective and converts this position into a measuring output signal.

Control system for an objective of a camera

A film camera system, includes a housing with a front end carrying an objective, and a housing wall formed with an opening, a film magazine, and a single connecting member having at least one bore for allowing passage of a film from the film magazine into the housing via the housing opening and vice versa. The connecting member is secured to the film magazine and can be so attached to the housing that the film magazine is selectively positionable with respect to the housing in a first position essentially above the housing and in a second position essentially at the rear end of the housing, while providing a light-tight cover for the housing opening in the first and second positions of the film magazine.

Camera system

A case for a film camera with a film magazine which can be mounted at various positions. The case comprises at least one opening to allow passage of the film, an insertion holder for receiving essentially diametrically opposed, formed shoulders of the film magazine and comprises a lock for the latter. In order to make it possible to re-mount the film magazine in a simple manner, provision is made that the case comprises only one opening to allow passage of the film. Also, two different receiving parts are provided which can be selectively fastened to the outside of the case for covering a part of the film. Passage opening and which are provided with a clamping device for fixing the film magazine.

Case for a camera

Adjustable mountings for positioning and supporting an inner housing of a movie camera within an outer housing to permit fine adjustment of the position of the inner housing with respect to the outer housing and dampen the noise produced within the outer housing is provided. At least two adjustable mounting means are constructed and arranged to selectively adjustably position and secure the inner housing within the outer housing. Each adjustable mounting means includes resilient sound dampening means. The adjustable mounting means are constructed and arranged to permit the position of the inner housing with respect to the outer housing to be adjusted in at least three directions, each direction being perpendicular with respect to each other.

Adjustable mountings for a movie camera

A sprocket drive mechanism for transporting film through a motion picture camera includes a frame and a sprocket wheel rotatably supported on the frame and adapted to engage the film. A drive plate is rotatably supported on the frame which is rotated by a drive mechanism. A knob is coupled to the sprocket wheel for rotation therewith. A coupling plate is rotatably supported on the frame and is axially coupled to the knob for selectively rotating the knob. The knob, where manually actuated, axially displaces the coupling plate between a first position where the coupling plate is engaged with the drive plate for rotation therewith and a second position where the coupling plate is disengaged from the drive plate. The coupling plate, when in the first position, rotates the knob which in turn rotates the sprocket wheel. The knob, when the coupling plate is in the second position, is manually rotatable to permit manual rotation of the sprocket wheel to adjust the film.

Movie camera sprocket drive mechanism

A claw feed mechanism for a motion picture camera for intermittently advancing film for exposure. A first end of an elongated, light-weight film feeding pin is pivotally coupled to a first crank. The film feeding pin includes an advancing taper at the second end thereof for engaging with and advancing the film. A second crank includes a guide for guiding the film feeding pin. The first and second cranks are mutually eccentrically driven so that the film feeder pin reciprocates with respect to the guide, while the film feeder pin and the guide synchronously pivot so that the advancing taper on the film feeder pin defines an elliptical path thereby intermittently engaging with and advancing the film for exposure.

Claw feed mechanism

A position compensation mechanism for maintaining a movie camera in focus upon displacement. An inner housing supporting a film gate is resiliently mounted at a predetermined orientation within an outer housing which supports the photographic optics of the movie camera. A position compensator is coupled intermediate the inner and outer housing for maintaining the inner housing at its predetermined orientation with respect to the outer housing when the outer housing is displaced.

Position compensation mechanism for a movie camera

An accessory apparatus for producing visible information on a film in a moving picture camera by exposure of the film through optical indicating elements comprises an actuating circuit arrangement for the optical indicating elements. The circuit arrangement includes a driving circuit for actuating the indicating elements and a control circuit associated with the driving circuit. The driving circuit is responsive to the control circuit and the control circuit is controllable in response to the picture frequency of the camera. It comprises an electrical signal transmitting stage, a signal recording stage connected to the transmitting state and directly receiving the signal therefrom, the driving circuit and the signal transmitting stage being energizable simultaneously, and a blocking circuit stage de-energizing the control circuit after passage of a pre-selectable number of picture frames after the standard picture frequency has been reached.
