A two-component coating composition comprising (I) a component comprising at least one isocyanate as crosslinking agent and (II) a component comprising at least one binder having functional groups which react with isocyanate groups. Component (I) comprises at least one isocyanate Ia) having at least one diisocyanate structural unit which has an unsaturated/aromatic or non-aromatic ring structure having 5-10 ring atoms and two isocyanate groups attached to the ring structure. Instead of this isocyanate Ia) or in addition thereto it is possible to use an oligomer Ib) of this isocyanate Ia) having from 2 to 10 isocyanate units, especially a trimer Ib) and/or partially blocked isocyanates Ia) and/or oligomers Ib)(&equals;crosslinkers Ic).

Coating agent and method for producing same

The invention relates to a component system for a multicomponent coating composition comprising a hydroxy-functional binder or a mixture of hydroxy-functional binders, tris(alkoxycarbonylamino)triazine or a mixture of tris(alkoxycarbonylamino)triazines and free isocyanates or a mixture of free polyisocyanates. It is characterized in that a first component (I) is formed at least from the hydroxy-functional binder or the mixture of hydroxy-functional binders, in that a second component (II) is formed at least from the free isocyanates or the mixture of free polyisocyanates, and in that a third component is formed from the tris(alkoxycarbonylamino)triazine or the mixture of tris(alkoxycarbonylamino)triazines.

Process for the production of a two-coat finish on a substrate surface

A coating composition, in particular for producing the transparent topcoat of a multilayer coating. The coating composition contains as binders two acrylic polymers, A and B, as well as aliphatic and/or cycloaliphatic polyisocyanates. Acrylic polymer A has a molecular weight of 800 to 4,000, a hydroxyl number of 80 to 180 and a glass transition temperature of below -10.degree. C. Acrylic polymer B has a molecular weight of 3,000 to 10,000, a hydroxyl number of 40 to 120 and a glass transition temperature of -10.degree. C. to +10.degree. C. Whereas in acrylic polymer A the proportion of acrylic acid esters predominates, polymer B contains methacrylic acid esters as predominant monomer components.
