The invention proposes a process for producing components () or semi-finished products which contain intermetallic titanium aluminide alloys, which includes the following process steps: rough contouring of a plurality of plate-like bodies () so as to correspond to a desired final shape of the component () or semi-finished product, some of these plate-like bodies or all the plate-like bodies consisting of titanium aluminide alloys; carrying out surface-to-surface joins between the plurality of plate-like bodies () stacked on top of one another so as to form an overall body (); and forming the desired final shape of the overall body (). The invention also concerns a component, in particular for jet engines, which is produced using this process.

Process including intermetallic titanium aluminide alloys

In a method for the treatment of metallic materials especially for the consolidation of the texture of the materials, a blank of the metallic material is heated to a transformation temperature and the blank is then subjected to twisting preferably while, at the same time, being compressed. In this way, the texture can be refined to a large degree in a simple and inexpensive manner.

In a device for encapsulating blanks of metallic high temperature alloys, particularly TiAL alloys, which are subjected to forging or rolling for hot forming, at least a first inner envelope is supported on the blank in closely spaced relationship therefrom and a second envelope surrounds the first envelope and both envelopes consist of a metallic material.
