A material cutting and feed roller has a peripheral roller surface that conveys the material to be cut, and a cutting device within the roller that cuts the material. The cutting device has a blade that, when cutting the material, passes through a closeable opening located inside the peripheral surface of the roller. The closeable opening through which the blade passes during the cutting process is closed when the cutting process is not occurring.

For the winding of a material web on a driven winding roll, it is cut through after the completed winding of a winding roll and the start of the following web is fastened on a winding core. The web is fed in the winding roll via a guide device, preferably consisting of a winding roller, and, after being cut through in a guide channel laid around a winding tube. In order to be able to wind the web with alternating outer sides into a winding roll, the web is fed, according to the desired outer side, from the left or from the right on winding in the winding tube. The winding tube is driven with a corresponding one of two opposite directions of rotation.

A sleeve for pressing rollers consists of an internal tube made of expandable material whose inside diameter is adapted to the diameter of the roller that is intended to carrying said material and that is connected with an outer dimensionally stable casing tube. To prevent oscillations of the casing tube that would impair good printing, the latter is provided at its terminal areas with carrying discs or bushings that at least have segments whose boreholes are adapted to the diameter of the roller with a snug fit or a pressing fit.

A separating device for severing perforated tube sections includes an advancing mechanism and a tearing mechanism which respectively include opposing rollers or cylinders which are situated on both sides of the tubular web to be separated and over which endless transport bands are guided. The rollers or cylinders of the tearing mechanism can be moved in the direction toward the tubular web by a control element. The opposing rollers or cylinders in the tearing mechanism are respectively situated in swivel arms that are arranged such that they swivel around swiveling axes that oppose one another in the transport direction of the tubular web and the swivel arms swivel apart in opposite directions.

An apparatus for manufacturing cross bottom sacks from laid-flat tubular sections consists of a frame having:- a table, means for holding the tubular section thereon in a processing station where the ends of the tubular section become opened out into a bottom square or rectangle, a suction gap arranged in the table in the zone of one of the ends of the tubular section, and suction means mounted in the frame above the suction gap and which is able to be raised and lowered for opening one end of the tubular section. Above the plane of the tubular section situated in the processing station, a slide can be extended and retracted over the table in the direction of the median line of the tubular section, the median line of the slide defining with the median line of the tubular section a plane perpendicular to the plane of the tubular section. The width of the slide is less than the interspacing of the hypotenuses of the two opened-out corner folds from each other. The two shaping plungers are designed in a mirror image arrangement and are mounted for being raised and lowered onto the table; their shape corresponds to the shape of the corner folds.

Rotating rolls are supported at equal intervals on a circle concentric to the turning axis of the framework. Each roll is provided with a row of suction boxes.
