A method for cool drying gas having the steps of determining the evaporator temperature and/or evaporator pressure and measuring the lowest gas temperature. The method includes the step of determining the load of the cooling circuit on the basis of the evaporator temperature and/or evaporator pressure and the lowest gas temperature and calculating a desired value for the evaporator temperature and/or evaporator pressure that is required to cool the gas supplied to a set lowest gas temperature which includes the load. The speed of the compressor is then controlled to make the evaporator temperature and/or evaporator pressure equal to the desired value.

Method and device for cool-drying a gas with circulating cooling liquid with bypass line

A cooling circuit is equipped with a coolant, a compressor, a condenser and evaporator expansion valve combinations, whereby the outlets of the evaporators are connected to a collection pipe connected to the compressor. The cooling circuit comprises a control unit connected to a temperature sensor and a pressure sensor affixed in the collection pipe and connected to the expansion valves for the control of them. The control unit is provided with an algorithm for controlling the expansion valves on the basis of the temperature sensor and pressure sensor to control the superheating in the collection pipe.

A method for cool drying gas, making use of a heat exchanger whose primary section forms the evaporator of a cooling circuit with a compressor, an expansion valve and a bypass pipe across the compressor with a hot gas bypass valve, whereby the method makes use of a formula that makes the link between the state of the expansion valve and hot gas bypass valve, whereby on the basis of this formula: either the state of the expansion valve is adjusted as a function of the state of the hot gas bypass valve; or adjusting the state of the hot gas bypass valve as a function of the state of the expansion valve or vice versa; or the states of both valves are controlled with respect to one another.

Method for cool drying a gas

Device for cool drying gas includes a heat exchanger whose primary part is the evaporator of a cooling circuit. The gas to be dried is guided through the secondary part of the heat exchanger to cool the gas and to condense water vapor out of the gas. At least one bypass pipe is provided with a control valve which is controlled by a control unit as a function of signals received from a measuring element for measuring the lowest gas temperature (LAT) or the dew point of the gas in the secondary part of the heat exchanger. The measuring element is positioned directly inside the secondary part of the heat exchanger. Also provided is a measuring element for measuring the temperature of the coolant in the evaporator.
