A multiplexable liquid crystal cell having two substrates 1 and 3 which are spaced from each other and form between each other a cell space filled with liquid-crystal substance. Strip electrodes 2 are arranged on one substrate 1 while picture electrodes 4 are arranged on the other substrate 3 opposite the strip electrodes 2. An insulating layer 7 is arranged on the picture electrodes 4, said layer in its turn bearing a connecting contact 6 which leads to the data line 5.

Multiplexable metal-insulator-metal liquid crystal cell

A substrate having a conductor path of solderable material arranged thereon and having a solder layer applied to the conductor path by contact as the conductor path moves along molten solder material. In order to apply the solder material in uniform thickness with little deviation of tolerance onto the conductor path, another conductor path and/or a dummy conductor path of corresponding construction to the latter is arranged on the substrate closely alongside of the conductor path.

The invention refers to a corrosion-proof solderable system of layers which is applied to a support and is made of a solderable layer and a corrosion-protection layer covering the solderable layer and protecting it from complete oxidation. In order to create a layer system which is simpler and cheaper to manufacture, the solderable layer contains a proportion of oxidizable metal. The corrosion-protection layer is made by oxidation of the solderable layer on its free surface.

Solderable layer system

A corrosion-resistant solderable layer system is connected to an unsolderable layer, the layer system and the unsolderable layer being applied to a support and comprises a solderable layer and an anti-corrosion layer which covers the solderable layer and protects the latter against oxidation. The anti-corrosion layer is made of an oxidizable metal.

A display device for displaying light characters against a dark background, particularly a liquid-crystal display. It has a fluid which can be switched between two optically different states located between two support plates (1, 2) which are parallel to each other. On one of the facing surfaces of the support plates there is applied an insulating layer of fixer which contains the spacer elements (7). The support plates (1, 2) are maintained at a given distance from each other by these spacers (7). Furthermore, a polarizer (11, 12) is associated with each support plate (1, 2). In order to assure a strong contrast between the character and its background with precise maintenance of the distance between the support plates (1, 2), the insulating layer of fixer completely covers the support plate (1) and the spacer elements (7) consist of a material of dark color.

Liquid crystal display device with visibly imperceptable spacers

A method of producing conductor tracks applied to a support, particularly conductor tracks applied on an electrode support of a liquid-crystal display, in which a mask having cutouts corresponding to the conductor tracks is placed on the support and a conductive layer of electrically conductive material is applied corresponding to the cutouts to the support by, for instance, vapor deposition or sputtering. The cutouts are so interrupted at given points by support webs that the mask is imparted a mechanically stable shape in its plane, and that interruptions in the conductor paths are caused by the support webs. This occurs upon the application of the conductor layer of electrically conductive material, partially forming the conductor tracks on the support with interruptions in the conductor tracks masked by the support webs in a first operation by applying the conductive layer of electrically conductive material through the openings of the mask onto the support.

Method for the production of conductor tracks applied to a support

A display for an electronic timepiece or the like has an analog electro-optical display comprising a plurality of segment electrodes radially disposed about a center point and at least one first counterelectrode each bridging at least two radial segment electrodes and a digital electro-optical display comprising a plurality of digital electrodes which define at least one alphanumeric character and at least one second counterelectrode. By using at least two first counterelectrodes each having a different set of radial segment electrodes associated therewith and electrically connecting at least one radial segment electrode of one set in parallel with one radial segment electrode of the other set and in parallel with one digit electrode, the display may be driven in a time multiplex manner with a minimum number of external display connections.
