Magnetic recording media are produced by dispersion of powdered magnetic material in a mixture of solvents, organic polymer binders, dispersants and further conventional additives in a stirred ball mill and subsequent aftertreatment in a ball mill containing grinding media, application of the resulting dispersion as a layer to a substrate and subsequent consolidation of the layer.

Magnetic recording media are produced by preparing a dispersion of anisotropic magnetic materials in solution in an organic binder using dispersants and further conventional additives, applying the dispersion in the form of a layer onto a nonmagnetic substrate and solidifying the applied magnetic layer, by a process in which a cylindrical grinding chamber is used which is provided with an anchor stirrer or helical stirrer and contains grinding media whose specific gravity is lower than that of the magnetic material.

Production of magnetic recording media

Magnetic recording media consist of a nonmagnetic base and at least one matnetizable layer which is firmly applied thereon and is based on a magnetic material finely dispersed in a binder, consisting of not less than 50% by weight of a polyurethane, and further conventional additives, wherein the magnetizable layer also contains a saturated, branched hydrocarbon.

In magnetic recording media consisting of a non-magnetic base and, bonded on top of this, one or more magnetizable layers based on magnetic material finely dispersed in a polymer binder, a lubricant and further conventional additives, the lubricant used is a triethanolamine esterified with oleic acid.

Magnetic recording media consisting of a non-magnetic base and, applied thereto, one or more firmly adhering magnetizable layers based on magnetic material finely dispersed in a polymeric binder, at least one lubricant and other conventional additives, wherein the lubricant used is a mixture of zinc stearate which has been rendered hydrophilic and stearylamide.

Magnetic recording media consisting of a non-magnetic base and, applied thereto, one or more firmly adhering magnetizable layers based on magnetic material finely dispersed in a polymeric binder, at least one lubricant and further conventional additives, wherein the lubricant used is zinc stearate which has been rendered hydrophilic.

Magnetic recording media comprise a non-magnetic base which is provided with a magnetic layer consisting of finely divided anisotropic magnetic material which is dispersible in binders and additives, the binder being a mixture of (1) a high molecular weight thermoplastic linear polyurethane, (2) a polyvinylformal binder, a phenoxy resin, a cellulose ester or a vinyl chloride copolymer and (3) an OH-containing polyurethane which is crosslinked with polyisocyanates.
