In order to achieve, in the case of a plastics moulding, in particular a moulded part such as e.g. a kitchen sink, a washbasin or a work-top or similar, comprising a polymer phase formed from a curable reaction mass and,: embedded therein, a particulate filling material which contains a resin material filled with an inorganic filler, in addition to a good resistance to water whitening a high resistance to crack formation in the hot-cold cycle, it is proposed that the polymer phase contains up to 5 wt %, referred to the plastics moulding, of inorganic additive particles, that the particulate filling material is swellable in the curable reaction mass, that the filled resin material comprises a content of inorganic filler in the range from 50 to 80 wt % with an average particle size of approx. 5 to approx. 100 &mgr;m, and that the filling material has a particle size in the range from 60 to 8000 &mgr;m and is contained in the plastics moulding in a proportion of approx. 30 to approx. 75 wt %.

With an integral, board-like component, in particular for use as a kitchen working surface, comprising a visible side and a rear side, wherein the visible side comprises a layer consisting of a polymer matrix filled with a first, inorganic filler, its specific density being greater than the specific density of the polymer matrix, it is suggested for the production of the boards in a simple manner and with a good planarity that the filler content of the first filler in the visible side layer be 50 to 90% by volume, that the rear side comprise a layer which is formed from a polymer matrix filled with a second inorganic filler, wherein the proportion of the polymer matrix in this layer in % by volume differs quantitatively by 20% at the most from the volume content of the polymer matrix in the visible side layer and wherein the specific density of the second filler is &lE;0.6 g/cm,.

In a component such as a built-in sink, a washhand basin or the like, having a visible side and a rear side and consisting of a compound made of a resin which forms a matrix and of a filler comprised, at least predominantly, of quartz particles, in order to improve the wearing quality, the majority of the quartz particles have a size of between 0.1 mm and 2 mm, the filler constitutes about 60% to 80% by weight of the compound, the quartz particles have an unbroken grain shape and in the areas of the component subject to severe stress during use are packed more densely than those on the rear side of the component. To manufacture such a component, a mold is placed, for curing of the resin, in a position in which the visible side of the areas of the component subject to severe stress during use faces downwards.
