In a two-stroke internal combustion engine with an engine block including a crankcase and a cylinder housing receiving pistons which are connected to a crankshaft by crosshead rods with crossheads guided for linear movement with the piston and a connecting rod extending between the crosshead and the crankshaft, wherein the cylinders have walls with inlet and outlet slits disposed above the bottom dead-center position of the piston and providing for communication between the cylinder and inlet and outlet channel structures formed in the cylinder housing around the pistons, the engine block consists of a cylinder housing and a crankcase joined along a dividing plane extending across the engine block below the lowest piston ring when the piston is in its bottom position and the cylinder housing includes channel structures which are open toward the dividing plane and have walls extending inwardly and have inner surfaces in engagement with the piston for guiding said piston and to form, with the piston skirt, the gas inlet and outlet channels through which gases are supplied to, and discharged from, the cylinder.

Two-stroke internal combustion engine

In a port-controlled two-stroke internal combustion engine with an engine block comprising a crankcase and a cylinder block including pistons connected to a crankshaft by crosshead rods with crossheads guided for linear movement with the pistons, and connecting rods extending between the crossheads and the crankshaft a partition structure is arranged between the crankcase and the cylinder block and includes hollow cylindrical sleeves which project axially into the cylinders to a point closely adjacent the undersides of the piston tops when the pistons are in their bottom dead center positions and the sleeves are spaced from the cylinder walls to form between the sleeves and the cylinder walls annular spaces for receiving the depending skirts of the pistons.

Port-controlled two-stroke internal combustion engine

A cylinder block for an internal combustion engine which includes dry liners each having a flange, and in which cooling slots are provided between two cylinders that start from the separating plane facing the cylinder head and are in communication with the cooling water circulation; the wall thickness of the cylinder block between two cylinders is thereby so dimensioned that the circumferential surfaces of the flanges at the liners are either tangential with a cooling slot; or with larger flanges in the radial direction, the flanges abut at one another above the cooling slot.

A filter housing for accommodating at least one filter insert to filter lubricating oil, which is provided in the installed position with a geodetically upper assembly opening for inserting and interchanging the filter insert and with a geodetically lower base; the housing interior space is connected by way of two separate housing channels extending in the base, with one housing connection each for the inlet of dirty oil and for the outlet of clean oil; the housing interior space can also be connected with a housing connection separate from the housing connection for the inlet of dirty oil by way of a drainage connection adapted to be closed off by means of a closure device which can be opened at will.

An exhaust gas channel system which is arranged in the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine and in the housing of an exhaust gas turbo charger flangedly connected to an exhaust flange disposed along the side of the cylinder head; the exhaust apertures of each cylinder are thereby each arranged in that half portion of the respective cylinder which is disposed nearest the cross center plane of the cylinder head while the exhaust gas channels are constituted exclusively by cast-in walls of the cylinder head, on the one hand, and of the exhaust gas turbo-charger, on the other; the latter is threadably connected to the exhaust flange of the cylinder head by means of a complementary counter-flange matched to the exhaust flange of the cylinder head.
