Heel part for a ski binding

Ski brake

A heel holder includes a base plate, a bearing block supported on the base plate, a binding housing pivotally supported on the bearing block, a control lever pivotally supported on the bearing block and engaging a control element on the binding housing, a release spring which biases the control lever, and a two-arm release lever which is pivotally supported on the control lever and has on a load arm a first extension which can engage a projection on the binding housing and a second extension which can serve as a stop for limiting upward swinging of the binding housing. The swivel axle for the release lever extends through two arcuate holes in sidewalls of the bearing block concentric with the pivot axis of the control lever. The release lever carries a first stop which cooperates with a counterstop on one of the binding housing and bearing block to limit the movement of the release lever which effects a release, and carries a second stop which, in an open position of the binding housing, engages the bearing block or a part thereon to limit swinging of the release lever in a direction toward its release position.

Heel holder

The invention relates to a safety ski binding, in particular a heel holder, comprising a sole holder, which is pivotal about a transversely extending axis on a bearing block, which sole holder is held in the downhill skiing position by a locking rocker arm which is pivotally supported on a sole holder, which locking rocker arm has on the one side a locking projection which, in the downhill skiing position, grips under a locking nose arranged on the bearing block, and on the other side is provided with a locking notch, into which is received a locking member biased by a release spring at least in the downhill skiing position, which locking member is supported in a pivotal spring housing which is movable relative to the bearing block and is, to a limited extent, movable in guideways provided therefor, whereby for the voluntary opening of the sole holder a release lever which is pivotally supported on the sole holder is provided through the operation of which the spring housing will be swung up and the locking member be removed from the locking notch, so that the locking rocker arm in this (disengaged) position is freely pivotal about its supporting axle and whereby the sole holder is loaded directly by an opening spring which urges the sole holder into the opening position.

Safety ski binding

The invention relates to a safety ski binding, in particular a heel holder, comprising a sole holder which is pivotal about a transverse axle supported on a bearing block secured to a base plate. The sole holder is under the influence of an opening spring which urges it into its opened position. The sole holder is held in the downhill skiing position by a locking rocker arm pivotally supported on the sole holder. The locking rocker arm has on the one side thereof a locking projection which, in the downhill skiing position, grips under a control-cam member arranged on the bearing block and on the other side thereof a locking notch into which is received a locking member at least in the downhill skiing position urged by at least one spring. The locking member is supported in a spring housing which is swingable on the bearing block and is movable to a limited extent with respect thereto, whereby for the voluntary opening of the sole holder a release lever supported on the sole holder is provided, which carries a bolt which couples the release lever to the spring housing.

A heel holder includes a ski brake, a bearing block which is arranged on a base plate, and a housing which is supported swingably on the bearing block, wherein the housing carries a sole hold-down member which is under the influence of a spring, and is held in the skiing position by a locking lever or a pawl, and wherein braking mandrels of the ski brake, with respect to their swivelling movement to the braking position, are controlled by the housing. In order to permit an opening of the heel holder and a swivelling of the ski brake into the braking position in a simple manner when only the front jaw of the ski binding has released, the ski brake is provided with a stepping plate and is operatively connected through a coupling or operating member to the locking lever or the pawl.

Heel holder combined with a ski brake

A ski brake having at least one braking leg, which is pivotal by a force applied by a ski boot or by a sole plate to a pedal about an axle, which extends substantially at a right angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the ski in a mounting member which is secured to the ski, from a braking position against a spring force into a retracted position. The braking leg is pivotal about a swivel shaft which extends in longitudinal direction of the ski when the ski brake is in the retracted position. The braking leg has a sliding segment thereon which slidingly engages during the swing of the ski brake from the retracted position into the braking position a ski binding part to thereby positively effect a driving of the braking mandrel about the axis of the swivel shaft laterally outwardly beyond the lateral edges of the ski.

A ski brake having a support plate secured to a ski and a combination of a support member and an operating plate pivotally secured to the support plate, which support member and operating plate pivotally support the brake arms therein for movement between a retracted position above the upper surface of a ski and a braking position wherein the brake arms extend beneath the lower surface of the ski. The pivotal movement of the support member and operating plate relative to the support plate, as well as the pivotal movement of the brake arms relative to the support member and the operating plate, is accomplished by a single spring. The vertical height of the operating plate above the support member is initially different so that when the ski boot urges the operating plate downwardly relative to the support member, the two surfaces will become flushed and the brake arms will be pivoted through the last range of movement to a position located above the upper surface of the ski and inwardly of the lateral edges thereof.

A connecting piece for connecting a sole support plate to a ski binding. In this disclosure, it is contemplated that a pair of such sole support plates is provided, one of which has a ski brake mounted thereon, the other of which has no ski brake associated therewith. In certain areas, ski brakes are not desirable and the skier will use safety straps for securing the ski to the leg of the skier. Thus, to enable the skier to select the mode of equipment which will meet the local conditions, a sole support plate and ski binding combination is provided which permits a selective coupling of the desired sole support plate. The connecting piece consists of a connecting member having at least one locking pin thereon received in an opening in a guide plate of the ski binding. The mutually opposing edges of the sole support plate and the guide plate engage each other to limit the amount of relative movement therebetween.

Connecting piece for a releasable attachment

A ski brake for use on a ski having a mounting structure adapted to be mounted on the ski and a pedal structure pivotally secured to the mounting structure. The pedal structure includes a pair of laterally spaced and elongated guideways opening outwardly in a bottom surface thereof opposing the upper surface of the ski. The guideways each have at least a pair of angled segments. A pair of ski brake arms is pivotally secured to the mounting structure for movement about a universal type pivot joint with the ends remote from the snow engaging ends having angled guide segments received in the respective one of the guideways in the pedal. There is an operative connection between the pedal and the guide segments on the ski brake arms for preventing a separation of these members during use. Resilient structure is provided for continually urging the pedal to an upright position to effect a positioning of the snow engaging ends of the ski brake arms beneath the bottom surface of the ski. The guideways control the movement of the guide segments on the ski brake arms as the pedal is moved against the urging of the resilient structure to effect a positioning of the snow engaging ends of the ski brake arms over the upper surface of the ski when the ski brake is in a retracted position.
