A separator () for electrode plates () in gel storage batteries having two substantially rectangular layers (') of a flat separator material, which layers come to lie in mutually superposed relationship. In order to provide less expensive separators for the separation of plate electrodes in gel storage batteries, which have a low electrical resistance and which afford additional protection for the edges and side surfaces and at the same time permit homogenous gel filling of the storage battery, the invention proposes that the two layers of separator material are connected together at least portion-wise in the region of their edges, forming a casing or pocket for the introduction of an electrode plate and a method and battery employing the separator.

The present invention concerns a vent valve for acid batteries comprising a substantially cylindrical plug portion () which is designed for being brought into engagement with a cell opening of the acid battery () and which has at least one passage opening communicating the cell interior of the acid battery with the ambient atmosphere, wherein provided in the passage opening is a valve arrangement () having an inlet communicating with the cell interior and an outlet connected to the ambient atmosphere. In order to provide a vent valve for an acid battery, in particular an acid battery with fixed electrolyte, which is simple and inexpensive to produce and which affords improved protection against the escape of battery acid, it is proposed in accordance with the invention that at least one turbulence chamber () follows the passage opening of the plug portion () in the direction of the cell interior and a gas-permeable filter unit (') follows the turbulence chamber ().

Vent valve for acid batteries

The present invention relates to a vibration-resistant accumulator with a housing (), which comprises one or more cell boxes () each with a plate block () with positive and negative plate groups (), with the individual plates () in a plate block () separated from one another by separators (), the plates () of each plate group () having lugs () and being connected together electrically by cell connectors (). In order to provide a vibration-resistant accumulator that is improved relative to the state of the art, withstands severe loading, can be manufactured comparatively easily and inexpensively, and permits safe filling of the electrolyte, according to the invention it is proposed to provide a hardenable sealing compound (), which fixes the plate block () in a cell box () in a substantially vibration-resistant manner, with the sealing compound () arranged above the plates () of the plate block () and at least partially filling the space between the top of the plate block () and the cell connectors () and with a sealant guide bridge () provided on the top of the plate block (), and delimiting a region that is free from sealing compound () on the top of the plate block ().
