An arrangement for monitoring the leak-tightness of an evacuated space which is hermetically closed, leak-tight, by means of at least one metallic wall is specified. A device which is connected to the evacuated space indicates an inadmissible pressure rise in the evacuated space caused by a leak in the wall. The device includes a metallic bellows, which is hermetically connected, leak-tight, to the evacuated space, and an electrical proximity switch to which an evaluation unit is connected. The proximity switch () is mounted, in the direction of movement of the bellows (), at a distance from the end face of the latter, the size of which is varied as a function of the respective axial length of the bellows (). A tube () connected fixedly to the wall () is mounted around the bellows (), so as to maintain an air gap, surrounds the bellows () in a moisture-tight manner and is longer than the bellows () in its longest initial position corresponding to the expanded state. The proximity switch () projects into the tube () so as to be sealed off with respect to the latter.

Arrangement for monitoring the leak-tightness of an evacuated space

A method for producing longitudinally welded helically corrugated metal tubing, wherein a metal strip pulled from a strip supply is formed into tubing with a longitudinal slit, the longitudinal slit is sealed by welding and the corrugation is produced by a corrugation tool that is supported eccentrically and at an angle to the tubing axis, is freely rotatable in a rotationally driven corrugator head, and rolls off the surface of the tubing. The metal strip as well as the uncorrugated metal tubing are advanced by a feed device that is provided between the welding point and the corrugation unit. A second feed device ( ) engages the corrugated tubing ( ) directly behind the corrugation unit ( ), and the feed rate of the second feed device is slower than the forward feed rate of the corrugated tubing ( ) which results from the pitch of the corrugator disk and the rotational speed of the corrugator head.

Method for producing longitudinally welded helically corrugated metal tubing

In a process for producing longitudinally welded tubes, a metal strip, which is continuously pulled from a supply, is gradually formed into a slit tube and the longitudinal slit of said slit tube is welded. The metal strip ( ) is pulled through a plurality of drawing dies ( ) arranged one behind the other and having a diameter that decreases in production direction, and in each of the drawing dies ( ) is increasingly bent in circumferential direction. The slit tube is closed in a last forming step ( ) immediately in front of the welding point.

Process for producing longitudinally welded tubes

An apparatus for producing annularly corrugated metal tubes, particularly the outer conductor of coaxial high-frequency cables, using at least one pressure roller revolving around a plain tube. The corrugations are formed in the plain tube by the teeth of the pressure roller, which is rotatable about an axis at a 90&deg; angle to the longitudinal axis of the tube, and the axis of rotation of the pressure roller, itself in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the tube, revolves around the plain tube being fed to the pressure roller as the corrugations are produced. The plain tube in turn rotates the pressure roller by its feed. The tips of the teeth are substantially flat, the tube is tightly guided in a guide bushing ( ) in front of and behind the engagement with the pressure roller ( ), and the number of teeth (Z) ranges between 7 and 11, preferably between 8 and 10.

Apparatus for producing annularly corrugated metal tubes

A superconducting element comprising a high temperature superconducting film deposited on a stainless steel substrate that includes a composition of nickel; chromium; silicon; manganese; and iron. Optionally, carbon; phosphorous; sulfur; nitrogen; and unavoidable impurities will be present.

A process for the production of metal pipes is described in which a thin-walled metal band inclined toward cold spots is gradually formed into a slotted pipe, the longitudinal edges lying flush against one another are welded to one another, and the welded pipe is reduced in its diameter. The forming of the metal band into the slotted pipe is done by opposing metal forming rollers or forming cylinders cooperating pairwise. The forming rollers or forming cylinders guide the metal band to be deformed in its edge area with rolling friction between them. Therein the forming and guiding of the metal band is done with forming rollers and/or forming cylinders and the reduction with rollers whose surface hardness is greater than 100 GPa.

Process for the production of metal pipes

In a process for producing a metal tube, in which a strip of copper alloy is continuously pulled from a strip supply and is formed into a slit tube with butted strip edges, and the strip edges are laser welded, and at least the area of the strip edges is mechanically roughened prior to welding. The peak-to-valley height is above R &equals;12.5 &mgr;m, and wetting with a liquid hydrocarbon is carried out prior to welding.
