A semiconductor device and a method of making the same. The device includes a semiconductor substrate provided in a chip-scale package (CSP). The device also includes a plurality of contacts provided on a major surface of the substrate. The device further includes an electrically floating metal layer forming an ohmic contact on a backside of the semiconductor substrate. The device is operable to conduct a current that passes through the substrate from a first of said plurality of contacts to a second of said plurality of contacts via the metal layer on the backside.

An arrangement and a method are described for the transmission of address, instruction and/or data telegrams from a control unit to (at least) one controlled unit and for the return of a respective reception acknowledge signal from the controlled unit (units) to the control unit in response to each address, instruction and/or data telegram, the reception acknowledge signal signaling the control unit the correct transmission of the relevant address, instruction and/or data telegram. In order to configure a device and a method of this kind in such a manner that limited quantities of data can be transmitted to the control unit also without incorporating bus transmitter stages in the controlled units, according to the invention in (at least) one controlled unit the reception acknowledge signal in response to one of the address, instruction and/or data telegrams is suppressed, exclusively in dependence on a selectable parameter of the operating state of the controlled unit, also in the case of correct transmission of the address, instruction and/or data telegram; the control unit in that case is always signaled an incorrect transmission and the nonarrival in the control unit of a reception acknowledge signal in response to said address, instruction and/or data telegram is evaluated as an information signal concerning the selectable parameter of the operating state of the controlled unit.

The binary values of the data word to be converted in a widely used type of D/A converter are supplied to a series of stages in which binarily stepped currents are supplied to a common output or derived therefrom, or are conducted to a second common output. To control the current switch, each stage comprises a flipflop in which the binary value to be converted is stored. Integration processes are often used in the integration of analog circuits by means of which digital circuit components cannot be usefully realized, for example, in the IIL technology. In the flipflop comprising cross-coupled transistors, the emitters are connected to a reference voltage which lies between ground potential and the supply voltage so as to obtain a favorable conversion of the digital signals for triggering the current switch. This renders it possible to connect the collectors of the transistors of the flipflop directly to the bases of the current switch. In addition, the control of the flipflop is simplified thereby, and the delay time is shortened.

Circuit arrangement for a memory cell of a D/A converter

A current supply arrangement, for supplying at least one load with electric energy from a source, includes a switching stage for optionally switching-on the load according to a switching signal applied thereto and a control circuit which, in its switched-off state, cuts the supply of energy to the switching stage and, to the load and in its switched-on state, controls the energy supply to at least the switching stage. Current supply arrangements of such a type are used more specifically in television sets having remote control for 'normal operation' and a 'stand-by mode'. So as to obtain for this arrangement the advantages of the 'stand-by mode' and, on the other hand, to reduce the electrical power consumed and also the number of modules loaded by heating or voltage charges, the switching signal is also applied to the control circuit for switching between the switched-off and the switched-on states.
