A docking station for receiving a cartridge includes a housing having a receiving space configured to receive the cartridge. A movable carriage is disposed in the receiving space and configured to transport the cartridge into the receiving space. A movable mouth piece is configured to at least partially surround a multipoint connector of a non-tape storage medium of the cartridge through a horizontal access side opening of the cartridge so as to fix the multipoint connector. A fixing slider is configured to move the mouth piece through the horizontal access side opening so as to fix the multipoint connector within the receiving space. A connector slider is configured to move a connector within the docking station through a vertical access bottom opening of the cartridge against the electrical multipoint connector.

Storage cartridge and cartridge drive

A device for storing data carriers has a housing (). In the housing () magazines () can be inserted, which accommodate data carriers, e.g. magnetic tape cartridges () lying flat. In order to be able to exchange cartridges () without moving the magazine () out of the housing () and without interrupting the operation of the device, end-sided receptacles of the magazines () are designed as a changing device (), which is mounted as a drawer in the associated magazine () and which, in the case of the inserted magazine (), can be extended out of this magazine () and out of the housing ().

Device for storing data carriers

A robotic unit with a picker () serves for handling data media in a storage device. The robotic unit can be traversed with a base plate () on a guide bar (). On the base plate () a rotary plate () is disposed which can be turned about a vertical axis. On the rotary plate () two motors () are disposed, each of which causes, via a toothed wheel drive, the translational and the turning movement of the robotic unit. The toothed wheel drives () are disposed in a common plane in an indented recess () of the base plate ().

Device for handling data media in a storage device

For storage of data on data carriers accommodated in cassettes (), a device is used with a magazine, having receptacles for cassettes () and with a robot unit () for changing the cassettes () between the receptacles and a drive (). The magazine is movable relative to robot unit (), in order to position the selected receptacle for changing of the cassette (). For positioning, a sensor unit is provided on robot unit () and a light guide element on each receptacle. The light emitted from the light transmitters of the sensor unit is guided via the light guide element to the light receivers of the sensor unit, when they are congruent with the positioning position of the robot unit () and receptacle.

Device for storage of data on data carriers accommodated in cassettes

A modular data storage system is disclosed. The data storage system comprises at least one module housing. Each housing has a front chamber and a rear chamber running parallel to a front side of the module housing and extending across a width of the module housing. An open shaft is arranged between the front chamber and the rear chamber. The shaft extends across the width of the module housing. The front chamber is adapted to receive at least two storage modules adapted to hold storage media, and the rear chamber is adapted to receive at least one function module for the data storage media. At least one transfer unit is arranged in the shaft. The transfer unit has a vertically traveling elevator and a carriage adapted to travel on the elevator between the front chamber and the rear chamber. The carriage has a grip mechanism for the data storage media.

Modular system with multi-drives and multi-magazines for storing data

An automatic library for cartridges of data storage tapes comprises a drive for cartridges having the form of a flat right parallelepiped having a flat side and a magazine. The drive has a cartridge pocket adapted to receive the cartridges. The magazine comprises one or more receivers for the cartridges. The receivers are adapted to revolve on a closed path of revolution about the drive, the path of revolution being substantially in a plane. The cartridge pocket of the drive and the receivers of the magazine are disposed such that the magazine is positionable with one of the receivers being aligned with the cartridge pocket along an insertion axis for transfer of a cartridge. The cartridges are adapted to be disposed in the receivers of the magazine and in the cartridge pocket of the drive with the flat side lying flat in the plane of the path of revolution.

Automatic library for data storage tape cartridges

A library for cartridges of a data storage tape comprises a drive with a cartridge pocket and a magazine revolving about the drive with a plurality of receivers for the cartridges. The receivers are positionable in front of a cartridge pocket in order to change a cartridge between the receiver and the cartridge pocket. Cartridges can be inserted or removed through a port of the housing of the library into the receiver of the magazine. The cartridge pocket, a receiver positioned in front of the cartridge pocket, and the port of the housing may be linearly aligned such that cartridges can also be inserted through the port directly into the cartridge pocket or can be removed directly from the cartridge pocket through the port.

Library for data storage tape cartridges

An automatic library for cartridges of a data storage tape comprises a magazine with a plurality of receivers for holding the cartridges. The magazine revolves on a closed path of revolution about at least one drive. The path of revolution of the magazine is non-circular and may have the shape of a rectangle with rounded-off corners. Thus, a low installation width of the library is provided.

Combined with the sheet depository (,) is a tray or container (,) in which separating films (,) are stored. The separating films (,) are placed via a guiding device (,) onto the stack of sheets (,) in the sheet depository (,) in order to be able to separate associated groups of sheets (,) in a simple manner.

Arrangement for depositing sheets output by an office machine

The device is disposed above an office machine stacking tray and stores circular divider films in a magazine. The divider films are selectively output singly from the magazine and deposited between successive sheet groups in the stacking tray to separate and identify the sheet groups.

Method and device for separably depositing sheets in a stack

The device includes a magazine for storing divider films to separate sheets output by an office machine and deposited directly in stacks, wherein the divider films are placed between discrete groups of associated sheets. In order to be able to associate the sheet groups separated by the divider films with particular users of the office machine, different types of divider films, for example differently colored divider films, are used. The different types of divider films are identified by an automatically detectable identifying code and are deposited onto the sheet stack according to this identifying code.

To separate sheet-type recording media of different stiffnesses from a stack, a separating roller acts by friction on the current first sheet of the stack, in order to push it against a ramp and lift it up from the stack along this ramp. The separating roller is mounted in freely movable manner in a plane parallel to the plane of the stack, so that, as a function of the stiffness of the recording medium, it rolls over the stack and away from the ramp until the front edge of the sheet is able to bend sufficiently at the ramp to be separated. Thereby the separating roller adjusts automatically to the distance from the ramp that is optimum for the stiffness of the current recording media.

Method and device for separating sheet-type recording media

In a hydraulic telescopic damper with a cylinder (10) and a piston (12) which has a check valve (O-ring 18) and a narrow opening (22), a valve member (30) is mounted on the side of piston (12) away from the pressure side. Valve member (30) is urged by the force of a spring (36) in a locking position of piston (12) and keeps opening (22) closed. The telescopic damper thereby locks automatically. Exerting an additional manual force on the piston rod can release the self-locking action once more.

A sheet-feeding device for feeding individual sheets to the platen of an office machine is supported on top of the office machine by means of a contact section or sections engaging the shaft of the platen. The lower extremity of the contact section is laterally displaced from the plane of the sidewall of the sheet-feeding device to facilitate the adaptation of the sheet-feeding device to different widths of office machines.

In a device for feeding individual sheets to an office machine, in which a stack of sheets stored in a magazine is pressed by a pressure plate (22) against a separating device (20), a switch (30) which is actuated by a lever is provided on the rear of the pressure plate (22). The lever extends through the pressure plate (22) with one arm (36) in order to determine the presence of paper sheets in the magazine. The other arm (38) is actuated by a stop when the pressure plate (22) is moved away from the separating device (20). This causes the switch (30) to indicate whether the device is ready for operation.
