According to the invention, in order to prevent a film from forming which obstructs the transfer of heat in heat exchanger pipes, the heat exchanger pipe comprises an external side which is adjacent to the external surface and which is impinged upon by a steam medium, and an inner side which is adjacent to an inner surface and which is impinged upon by a coolant, such that the outer surface is provided with a first layer which reduces the adhesion of the steam on the outer surface and/or the inner surface is provided with a second layer which reduces the adhesion of a coolant to the inner surface and which is embodied as a biocidal layer. The invention relates to a heat exchanger and to the use thereof.

The aim of the invention is to provide a superheated component of a steam turbine installation with high thermal and mechanical resistance. To this end, the component comprises a lining applied to a body of the component, on a hot side facing a steam chamber, said lining being adapted to the contour of the component body. According to the invention, the lining comprises a number of molded parts, each molded part comprising a metallic and ceramic composite layer formed from at least one metallic layer and at least one ceramic layer. The ceramic layer is used especially as a insulating layer, and the metallic layer is especially used as a support or for protection against abrasion and/or erosion.

A steam turbine component coated with a protective layer can be exposed to hot vapor. The component has a metallic base body, to which the protective layer is bonded by diffusion in order to increase the resistance of the base material to oxidation. The protective layer contains aluminum and has a thickness of less than 50 &mgr;m. The protective coating can be formed by applying an aluminum pigment to the base body and maintaining the component at a predetermined temperature.

A method and a coating are provided for attaining protection of a substrate being formed of chromium steel for a component of a turbomachine, against at least one of corrosive and erosive attack at a temperature up to approximately 500.degree. C. An aluminum-containing metal coating is applied to the substrate. At least the surface of the metal coating is hardened or age-hardened to form a protective coating containing aluminum.
