The hollow profiles with inner reinforcement are especially suited for use in automobile bodies. The aim of the invention is to ensure that an anti-corrosion medium reaches all areas and to obtain rigidity in a hollow structure without increasing the weight of the profile or enlarging its cross-section. To this end, a solid core material is coated with an activable material and an outer panel is arranged in such a way as to form a hollow space which can be filled through the foaming action of the activable material. The size of this hollow space is determined by how the spacers are determined and by how the spacers are arranged, depending on the particular application. The solid core material consists of a foamed or non-foamed metallic material or of a synthetic material reinforced with metal fibers, carbon fibers or glass fibers.

Hollow section with internal reinforcement and method of producing the hollow section

A multilayer composite body includes thermoplastic layers and layers of natural fibers bound with thermoplastic synthetic material. The composite body has at least one reinforcing layer made of an open-cell fabric of melting fibers. The reinforcing layer is penetrated on one or both sides by the melting thermoplastic synthetic material of adjoining natural-fiber layers and is integrated there for reinforcement. The reinforcing layer can also be disposed in addition or only between natural-fiber and pure thermoplastic layers or between thermoplastic layers. Such a composite body has excellent mechanical properties, in particular with regard to bending stress and impact resistance.

Multilayer composite body

A sound and heat insulation material for insulating buildings, motor vehicles, conduits, etc., is covered on at least one exterior surface with a material which reacts at a given temperature by foaming up, and which is difficult to ignite or inflammable. The exterior covering can be a sheet or fiber layer which is impregnated with the reactive material or coated with it. The fibers of the sound and heat insulation core layer can also be directly coated with the reactive material or be mingled with a variable proportion of foamable fibers. The sound and heat insulation element, which is difficult or impossible to ignite, has good insulating properties.

Sound and heat insulation material

A cast part, for example, for use as an internal coating of a vehicle. The cast part has a bearing layer, which is compressed and made of natural fibers bound together by a binding agent. A decorative layer is disposed on an upper surface of the bearing layer and on a lower surface of the bearing layer, a sealing layer, on which functional elements are molded in the form of fixing clips and reinforcing ribs is disposed. The case part is made according to a process consisting in compressing a natural fiber matting containing a binding agent into the bearing layer having either a plane surface or a contour and, in a second forming step, shaping the decorative material located in a upper half of a forming tool as well as a thermoplastic material applied to a lower half of the forming tool for forming the sealing layer and the functional element formed therefrom. The cast part is highly resistant with undiminished aesthetic and tactile features of the decorative material, is not moisture-sensitive and does not smell.

Preform and method for its fabrication

A method of producing components with surface decoration, by which even difficult surface geometries can be produced with a satisfactory visible surface, includes prefabricating a sheet-like molding with a desired surface contour in a prior step. The prefabrication is carried out in a contour-defining preforming mold or in a contour-defining production mold. The prefabrication of the sheet-like molding may be carried out, for example, by spraying a material onto a surface of the separate contour-defining mold or of the production mold. The surface decoration may be coated on a rear side with a compact or expanded material and subsequently preformed.

Method for producing components with surface decoration

The composite material can be produced without complicated measures to fix the distance between the covering layers and it can be brought into a desired three-dimensional contour. The composite material has a first outer covering layer and, at a distance from it, a second outer covering layer, in particular of metal, plastic or wood veneer. An intermediate layer is arranged between the covering layers. The intermediate layer is formed by at least one natural fiber mat of renewable raw materials which is interspersed with fusible and/or foamable particles and/or curable substances.

Composite material

A holder plate has two individual plates that extend at a distance from one another and are connected with each other by a film hinge. The hollow space between the individual plates is filled with an expandable material. For the fixation of the functional position of the holder plate at least one clamping and fixation element is pushed on the outer surfaces of the individual plates. The individual plates can also be connected with each other by integrally formed locking elements. The clamping and fixation element is advantageously formed as one piece. The individual plates of the holder plate can be produced in their unfolded state and can be folded into their functional position. When the expandable material is applied in partial segments to the individual plates of the holder plate, the partial segments are provided with a film hinge such that they can be flipped into the functional position.

Holder plate configuration

A method for the fabrication of synthetic-material component assemblies includes blow-molding synthetic-material components having a foam-backed decorative layer on part of their surface. Decorative material is initially pressed against a foam layer having one surface which has been heated and melted. During blow-molding of the component from an extruded synthetic-material tube, a composite decorative element produced in this way is pressed against an outer surface of the component and joined by fusion welding. The composite decorative element can either be performed in accordance with the contours of the component or have a flat structure, in which case it can be shaped, possibly with additional heating, together with the component during blow-molding.

Method for the fabrication of synthetic-material component assemblies

A covering part, in particular for sheet-metal supporting parts in motor vehicles, includes a one-piece, profiled hollow section which is produced by blow molding and can be secured exchangeably in the sheet-metal supporting part. The rear side of the hollow section has fastening elements to which corresponding sockets in the sheet-metal supporting part are assigned. It is possible for the rear side to have profilings which are disposed in sections in the longitud-inal direction. The fastening elements can be integrated in a cavity and the cavity filled with foam. The structure according to the invention ensures that energy is adequately absorbed, in particular when the cavity is filled with foam. In the event of an impact, the hollow section is basically not subject to any deformation.

Covering part, in particular for sheet-metal supporting parts in motor vehicles

A covering part, in particular for sheet-metal supporting parts in motor vehicles, includes a hollow section formed by blow molding. The hollow section has a cavity filled with foam material. The foam material is placed in the cavity in powder form, granular form, or paste form and is foamed by a thermal action. The structure according to the invention ensures that impact energy is adequately absorbed. A method for producing the covering part is also provided.
