This grommet-type joint includes a plug member, and a plurality of through passages for wires, said passages extending in an axial direction (X), and at least one peripheral flange, which projects outwards from said plug member, said flange being provided to sealingly engage a peripheral inner surface of a connector housing. Said flange axially projects rearwards from the rear side of the plug member, whereby the contact area of the flange with said inner surface is at least partially offset with respect to said rear side in the axial direction (X).

The invention proposes an assembly for an electrical connector including: &#x2014;a resilient sealing mat seal having two main surfaces and a plurality of channels extending between said two main surfaces, each channel being intended to receive a respective electrical wire, and wherein a annular sealing lip is provided within each channel and extends from the channel wall towards a center axis of said channel; and &#x2014;at least one sealing sleeve entirely surrounding a portion of an electrical wire to be introduced in one of said channels and tightly maintained on said wire; wherein the sealing sleeve has at least a portion with a smooth outer surface and an outer cross-section of said portion chosen such that said portion of the sealing sleeve and the channel lip are in tight engagement with each other when the wire provided with said sealing sleeve is positioned in its respective channel.

This connector includes an insulative housing having a plurality of terminal accommodating chambers, a grommet formed with a plurality of cable passages, a grid having a plurality of passages in correspondence with the passages and a closing member mounted at the rear side of the grid for selectively closing the passage to a first predetermined group of chambers, said closing member including a plate, which is formed with through-holes in correspondence with a second predetermined group of chambers. The closing member further includes at least one plug projecting from the plate in correspondence with the first group of chambers, said plugs being provided to be inserted in the respective passages of the seal, and thus sealingly close said passages.

Said pawl and stop cooperate for retaining the terminal at its retained position, and said housing includes a guiding wall with guiding surface on which the terminal is pushed against by the pawl being elastically pushed back. The guiding surface comprises a raising slope inclined toward the inside of the chamber along the reception direction (X)the slope being located to be climbed on by the terminal pushed from its reception position to its retained position.
