A method of recovering resources from a resource bearing formation includes selectively injecting a fluid into the resource bearing formation through one or more injector wells, extracting a resource from the resource bearing formation through one or more production wells, receiving at a sweep pattern controller, an input from each of the one or more production wells indicating an amount of the resource extracted over a period of time, determining, in the sweep pattern controller, an adjusted sweep pattern for the formation that substantially equalizes production from each of the one or more production wells, and signaling each of the one or more injector wells, from the sweep pattern controller, to selectively inject the fluid to establish the adjusted sweep pattern in the formation.

Method of balancing resource recovery from a resource bearing formation

A perforating system, including a shaped charge assembly comprising a charge case, a liner, and a main body of explosive. The material of the perforating system components, including the gun body, the charge case and the liner may be comprised of an energetic material that conflagrates upon detonation of the shaped charge. The material may be an oxidizer, tungsten, cement particles, rubber compounds, compound fibers, KEVLAR&#xae;, steel, steel alloys, zinc, and combinations thereof.

Perforating system comprising an energetic material

The present disclosure relates to apparatus and methods for evaluating an earth formation though a drillstring during tripping of the drillstring, particularly locating an area of circulation loss in a wellbore. The apparatus may include a neutron source and at least one radiation detector, which may be disposed on a logging instrument, configured to be dropped or pumped into a drillstring at the end of drilling. The logging instrument may be configured to make measurements through a homogenous portion of the drillstring while the drillstring is being tripped. The apparatus may include a memory and processor for logging data for later retrieval. The method may include adding a radiation absorbing substance to drilling fluid in the wellbore; exposing the earth formation to neutron radiation; and making a plurality of measurement indicative of radiation measurements of sigma or distinct energy peaks along the wellbore.

Using LWT service to identify loss circulation areas in a wellbore

A perforating system, comprising a perforating gun with shaped charges, and a pre-detonation orientation apparatus and method. The pre-detonation orientation device comprises an orientation device in communication with the firing means of the perforating gun. Detonation of the shaped charges can be contingent upon the perforating gun orientation.

Pre-verification of perforation alignment

An initiator for initiating detonation in a detonation cord of a perforating system, where the initiator comprises a modular electronic igniter that quick connects into a portion of high explosive. The high explosive is disposed in a housing having an end of detonation cord crimped therein. The electronic igniter may be shipped to the field and/or stored separate from the high explosive then the two may be assembled just prior to deploying the perforating gun assembly in a wellbore. Various methods of quick connecting the electronic igniter to the high explosive may be used.

Modular initiator

A communication module for use in wellbore logging operations. The module is attachable around a wireline, slickline, tubing or coiled tubing having a logging tool on its end. The module includes a drive means for transporting it down the line, a controller for controlling its operation, and communications for communicating with the logging tool. Communication between the module and the logging tool includes the transfer of data and operational instructions.

Downhole communications module

A method and system for cementing and perforating a wellbore in a single step by coupling a perforating gun with a wiper plug. The method includes injecting cement in a wellbore having casing therein and an annulus between the casing and wellbore. A wiper plug is dropped on the cement having a perforating gun attached to the wiper plug. The plug is forced downward pulling the perforating gun along. The downward motion of the plug in turn pushes the cement out the bottom end of the casing and into the annulus. The cement in the annulus is allowed to set and the perforating gun is activated.

An apparatus and a method are provided for discharging a plurality of fluids downhole. In one aspect, the apparatus may include a first chamber and a second chamber separated by movable barrier, wherein draining the fluid from the first chamber causes the barrier to move and allow an actuating member to drain the second fluid from the second chamber.

Apparatus and method for discharging multiple fluids downhole

A perforating system and method for wellbore perforating. The system comprises a perforating string having a perforating gun with shaped charges, a communication module for receiving detonation signals, and a controller associated with each perforating gun. The module receives surface signals for gun detonation and wirelessly transmits the signals to selected guns via the associated controllers.

Wireless perforating gun initiation

A subterranean formation stimulation system, comprising a gas generator, a high pressure seal, and a fluid injection system. The high pressure seal may be a packer and or plug having an outer sealing surface on its outer periphery. The outer sealing surface is configured for metal to metal contact with the inner circumference of wellbore casing. The gas generator can be compressed gas or a propellant. A shaped charge can be included to activate the generator. The system is disposable in a wellbore on wireline, slick line, or tubing.

Method and apparatus for subterranean fracturing

A lock for a perforating gun system comprising, a housing, a cylinder formed in the housing, a piston assembly disposed within the cylinder, and anchoring arms coupled with the piston assembly. Detonation of the shaped charges of an associated perforating gun produces a pressure surge which is communicated to a surface of the piston assembly. Appropriate movement of the piston assembly outwardly rotates the anchoring arms into anchoring engagement with an associated tubular. Thus the pressure from the detonation event will anchor a perforating system within its associated tubular.

Through tubing gun lock

A modular wellbore treatment system having a reservoir for holding wellbore/reservoir treatment material, a pump for pressurizing and delivering the wellbore/reservoir treatment fluid, and a sealing section for creating a localized pressurized zone proximate to a region of a formation to be treated. The wellbore treatment fluid includes permeability modifiers, gel, acids, stimulation fluids, epoxy type substances, void fillers, gravel pack fixing compounds, brine, reactive fluids to water, oil, and gas, and alcohol.

Wellbore and reservoir treatment device and method

A buffering device for use in conjunction with a downhole tool string, wherein the tool string includes a ballistics device. The buffering device includes a mandrel attached within a tool string and proximate to the ballistics device. An anchor is disposed on the mandrel and a disk plate is coaxially placed on the mandrel that is slideable thereon. The disk plate is proximate to the ballistic device. A resilient member, such as a spring, is coaxially placed on the mandrel between the disk plate and the anchor. The pressure wave produced by activation of the ballistic device pushes the disk plate toward the anchor and compresses the spring there between. Since the disk plate extends outward into sealing contact with casing lining the wellbore, compression of the spring dissipates energy waves produced by activation of the ballistic device.

Buffer for explosive device

The casing cutter disclosed herein is useful for severing downhole tubulars and comprises a body, slips, a cutting head, cutting blades, and actuators for operating the cutting head and cutting blades. The casing cutter can be anchored within casing wellbore with the slips to provide anchoring support during the cutting operation. Cutting is accomplished by rotatingly actuating the cutting head with an associated motor, and then radially extending the cutting blades away from the cutting head. The cutting blades are actuated by a hydraulic motor operatively coupled to the cutting blades by a series of gears.

Downhole hydraulic pipe cutter

A method for eliminating the presence of micro-annuluses associated with a subsea hydrocarbon producing wellbore for accurate gathering of data within the subsea hydrocarbon producing wellbore. The method involves using a sea floor pressure head assembly in conjunction with a subsea blow out preventer, where the sea floor pressure head assembly has an elongated tube with a stop ring formed thereon and an ambient pressure side. The blow out preventer is connected to the entrance of the subsea hydrocarbon producing wellbore, and includes an inflatable bladder and is connected to a hollow riser connected thereto.
