The invention relates to a compression unit adapted to be arranged around a patient's forearm to provide pressure to a radial artery puncture site, wherein the compression unit comprises a unit attachment band provided with a frame, and a compression element in the shape of an inflatable bladder, the compression element is further adapted to be arranged within said frame, such that when the compression unit is arranged around a patient's forearm, the compression element provides pressure to the puncture wound when the compression element is inflated. The invention also relates to a radial artery compression system.

A universal introducer adapter which can be inserted into a pre-placed introducer of arbitrary dimensions eliminates the need to replace or remove the introducer. The adapter includes a distal portion with a retainer in the form of a soft elastic material.

Dorsal forearm plate having a three-dimensional concave shape adapted to the shape of the dorsal forearm such that the dorsal forearm may rest on the forearm plate, the dorsal forearm plate has an essentially rectangular extension having opposing long sides and opposing short sides and has a substantially rigid unitary body adapted to underlie the posterior of the patient's hand, wrist and forearm, the plate is provided with two attachment bands, a distal and a proximal attachment band, adapted to attach the plate at the dorsal forearm of a patient. The shape of the side of the plate adapted to face the forearm during use, is adapted to the anatomy of the forearm in that it comprises two elongated depressions running in the longitudinal direction of the plate such that, during use of the plate, the ulnar bone and radius bone of the patient rest in the respective depression and that an elongated ridge, formed between the depressions, is adapted to extend into the softer tissue between the bones in order to orient and stabilize the forearm when attached to the plate. A method for sealing a hole in a bodily organ includes introducing a first member and a second member into the bodily organ, the first and second members being connected by an elongated member. The first and second members are retracted proximally until the first member abuts an inner surface of the bodily organ and the second member is retracted out of the hole in the bodily organ. Then, the second member is pushed distally into abutment with an outer surface of the bodily organ. A sealing device for sealing a puncture in tissue is also described.

The invention provides a method for replacing a first introducer, whose distal end is inside a vessel and whose proximal end is outside the skin of a patient, with a second introducer. The method comprises the steps of inserting a guide rod into the first introducer, removing the first introducer, passing the second introducer over the guide rod, and removing the guide rod. The guide rod to be used according to the method has preferably a flexible distal portion with a blunt distal end and a stiff proximal portion with a tapered proximal end.

A tool () is provided for inserting and mating two plug members () of a sealing device () for closing a wound in the wall of a vessel by placing the distal plug member () of the sealing device inside the vessel and the proximal plug member () on the outside of the vessel. The distal plug member is provided with an elongated retracting means () extending from the distal plug member. The tool comprises a gear mechanism () coupled to the retracting means for converting a movement of the tool in a proximal direction away from the wound (), when the distal plug member is anchored in the vessel (), to a pushing movement for moving the proximal plug member in a direction towards the distal plug member in response to a stretching force in the retracting means.

The invention provides an introducer sheath (), whose distal end is to be positioned inside a vessel (), at a predetermined distance from the wall () of the vessel (). The introducer sheath () comprises a distal portion () with a first diameter and a proximal portion () with a second diameter, the first diameter being smaller than the diameter of the puncture hole and the second diameter being larger than the diameter of the puncture hole.

An indicator device for visually indicating a pressure of blood inside a blood vessel includes: a body, the body comprising a duct extending in the body and having a sealed proximal end; a distal end portion adapted to be positioned inside the blood vessel and including a liquid inlet opening in fluid communication with the duct; and a window including an at least semi-transparent section configured to enable visual observation of blood entering into the duct via the inlet opening when the inlet opening is located inside the blood vessel.

Method for introducer replacement

The invention relates to a loading device provided with a tamping mechanism with which two or three functional operations needed in the sealing of punctures in blood vessels can be sequentially executed in one single manual operation. In a preferred embodiment of the tamping mechanism, a cam curve () transforms the single manual operation of a tamping button () being the one end of a plunger () into the retraction of a pusher (), which has been used to insert an inner seal () into the vessel, and, then, the advancement of a tamping tube (), which pushes an outer seal () into engagement with the outer vessel wall. In the end position of the tamping button (), a recess () in the plunger () releases a thread (), which tamps the inner and outer seals () together around the intermediate vessel wall, from a retainer (), thereby completing the third operation step.
