A method for determining an estimated position of a vehicle includes: receiving a measured sensor response determined with a scanning sensor of the vehicle, which is scanning an environment of the vehicle and determining the estimated position of the vehicle by generating a virtual sensor response for a possible position of the vehicle from an environmental map; and comparing the measured sensor response with the virtual sensor response for determining, how much the possible position and a real position of the vehicle at which the measured sensor response was generated, coincide.

The present disclosure relates to the estimation of a velocity of a first object using accelerometer signals, indicating an acceleration of the first object and/or a second object coupled to a first object. To this end, a characteristic frequency in the accelerometer signal spectrum may be determined, preferably by applying a parametric model or by performing a spectrum analysis, and used as a basis to estimate the velocity of the first object based on the determined characteristic frequency. The characteristic frequency may be determined by identifying the frequency having the maximum spectral amplitude or by identifying the fundamental frequency or a particular harmonic in the spectrum.

A hearing system comprises a hearing device, e.g. a hearing aid, and is adapted for being worn by a user, the hearing system comprising a) an audio input unit configured to receive a multitude of audio signals comprising sound from a number of localized sound sources in an environment around the user, and b) a sensor unit configured to receive and/or provide sensor signals from one or more sensors, said one or more sensors being located in said environment and/or form part of said hearing system, and c) a first processor configured to generate and update over time data representative of a map of said environment of the user, said data being termed map data, said environment comprising a number of, stationary or mobile, landmarks, said landmarks comprising said number of localized sound sources, and said map data being representative of the physical location of said landmarks in the environment relative to the user, wherein the hearing system is configured to, preferably continuously, generate and update over time said map data based on said audio signals and said sensor signals. Hearing device or system adapted for navigation

A method and system are provided for determining a heading angle of a user of a portable electronic device in an indoor environment. In an embodiment, the device collects rotational movement information indicative of rotational movement of the device and determines a first heading angle of the device. The first heading angle is determined by using the downward direction of the device to determine the vertical angular rate in the horizontal plane, and integrating the vertical angular rate to form the first heading angle. The device collects first direction information from a first direction sensor and second direction information from a second direction sensor and uses it determine which of the first and second direction information is an outlier, e.g., inaccurate due to an occurrence of a disturbance. The device then corrects the heading angle by comparing the heading angle to the first and second direction information.

A hearing device comprises a sound system for estimating the direction of arrival of sound emitted by one or more sound sources creating a sound field. The sound system comprises an array of N sound receiving transducers (microphones), each providing an electric input signal, a processing unit comprising a) a model unit comprising a parametric model configured to be able to describe the sound field at the array as a function of the direction of arrival in a region surrounding and adjacent to the array; b) a model optimizing unit configured to optimize said model with respect to its parameters based on said sound samples; c) a cost optimizing unit configured to minimize a cost function of the model with respect to said direction of arrivals; d) an estimating unit configured to estimate the direction of arrival based on said parametric model with the optimized parameters and the optimized cost function.

A method and system are provided for improved pedestrian dead reckoning. In an embodiment, the crab angle of a device, i.e., the angle by which the device direction of travel differs from the device orientation, is determined via the processing of measurements from a vector accelerometer. The measured acceleration vector is rotated so that one component is vertical, and the crab angle is then found by determining a horizontal direction having the greatest energy. Correlations between the two horizontal acceleration components and the vertical acceleration component may be computed to determine the user's gait, further improving dead reckoning, e.g., for improving indoor position resolution.

A hearing device is adapted to be arranged on or at least partly implanted in an individual's head and comprises: an input unit providing an input audio signal; a signal processing circuit adapted to process the input audio signal; an output unit adapted to provide an audible signal to the individual; one or more electrodes adapted to detect electric brain potentials of the individual; and a brainwave measurement circuit adapted to determine one or more EEG signals from electric signals received from the one or more electrodes. The present invention relates to a system and method for managing energy consumption in a multi-sensor user-carried device during indoor navigation. In an embodiment of the invention, the device calculates a motion mode, a location mode, or an operational mode, each of which is used to modify sensor behavior, e.g., sampling rate, and/or CPU load, e.g., filtering and modeling complexity. The invention relates to a method and a device for removing respiratory artefacts in invasive blood pressure measurements. The level of CO2 in the expired air is monitored during blood pressure measurement and used to approximate and remove the respiratory artifacts. In one embodiment, the respiratory frequency from the respiratory signal is extracted by identifying the end-tidal CO2 level for each breath. A model is derived for the respiratory artifacts using the respiratory frequency, and the model is subtracted from the measured blood pressure data.
