A communication device in a communications network receives () first configuration information from a network node in the communications network. The first configuration can include an indication of a downlink, DL, positioning reference signal, PRS, resource of a plurality of DL PRS resources. The communication device can further perform () at least one DL angle of departure, AOD, measurement based on the first configuration information. The communication device can further receive () second configuration information from the network node. The second configuration information can include an indication of a subset of the plurality of DL PRS resources. The communication device can further report () one or more DL AOD measurements.

Resource measurement reporting for beam based positioning

Embodiments include methods for a user equipment (UE) to obtain positioning assistance data associated with a cell of a wireless network. Such methods include receiving a first part of the positioning assistance data associated with the cell from a positioning node via unicast in the cell, and receiving a second part of the positioning assistance data associated with the cell via system information (SI) broadcast in the cell. Such methods also include, based on the second part, determining a persistence indicator associated with the first part, and based on the persistence indicator, selectively requesting an updated first part associated with the cell from a network node of the wireless network. Other embodiments include complementary methods for a positioning node as well as UEs and positioning nodes configured to perform such methods.

Retrieval of positioning assistance data based on persistence information

A wireless device () is configured for radio access technology, RAT, dependent positioning in a wireless communication network (). The wireless device () receives, from a network node (), assistance data () that assists the wireless device () with RAT-dependent positioning, e.g., downlink Observed Time Difference of Arrival. The assistance data () may be based on device-specific information. The device-specific information may for example include a subscription associated with the wireless device (). The wireless device () may perform the RAT-dependent positioning based on assistance from the assistance data ().

Example embodiments presented herein are directed towards a wireless terminal and base station, and corresponding methods therein, for providing a handover for a subset of bearers associated with the wireless terminal. The subset of bearers is less than a total number of bearers associated with the wireless terminal. Thus, upon the completion of the handover procedure, at least one bearer will stay connected with a source base station.

Node and method for enabling a wireless terminal to be served by multiple cells in a communications network

Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network

The invention refers to a wireless device and to operating the wireless terminal, UE, connected to a serving network node associated to a serving cell of a radio access network, RAN, the method comprising: receiving system information from a neighbour cell of the serving cell, determining from the system information if the neighbour cell does or does not broadcast a global cell identifier, CGI, of the neighbour cell; and if the neighbour cell does not broadcast the CGI, transmitting a global cell identifier, CGI, report to the serving network node, wherein the CGI report includes an indication that the neighbour cell does not broadcast the CGI of the neighbour cell. The invention further refers to a corresponding network node and to a method performed in the network node.

Cell global identity reporting

Embodiments include methods for a user equipment (UE) configured to operate in a cellular radio access network (RAN). Such methods include receiving, from the cellular RAN, a measurement reporting configuration comprising identification of non-cellular signals, of one or more types, for which measurements are requested from the UE. Such methods include measuring at least the identified non-cellular signals and transmitting, to the cellular RAN, a measurement report including one or more of the following for each particular type of identified non-cellular signal: a first indication of whether the UE's corresponding non-cellular receiver was enabled during a measurement duration, and a second indication of whether the UE was out-of-coverage during the measurement duration in relation to all identified non-cellular signals of the particular type. The target device and the location server are operating in a wireless communications network. The target device transmits a request to the location server. The request is a request for positioning assistance data and provides first logical position information. The target device obtains positioning assistance data from the location server. The positioning assistance data is based on the first logical position information. When being associated with a second logical position, the target device transmits a request to the location server. The request requests for positioning assistance data and provides second logical position information. The target device obtains positioning assistance data from the location server. The positioning assistance data is based on the second logical position information.

Obtaining and providing positioning assistance data

Embodiments include methods, performed by a network node, for providing positioning assistance data to one or more user equipment (UEs) in a wireless network. Such methods include determining an angular resolution of angular positioning assistance data for each particular beam of a plurality of beams transmitted by one or more transmission reception points (TRPs) in the wireless network. Such methods also include transmitting, to one or more UEs, the angular positioning assistance data for the plurality of beams. For each particular beam, the angular positioning assistance data includes a first part having a first resolution and, when the determined angular resolution for the particular beam is greater than the first resolution, a second part having a second resolution that is greater than the first resolution. Other embodiments include complementary methods performed by a UE, as well as network nodes and UEs configured to perform such methods.

Methods for signaling beam angular information for UE-based positioning

Embodiments include methods, performed by a network node, for providing positioning assistance data to one or more user equipment (UEs) in a wireless network. Such methods include determining relative location information for one or more transmission reception points (TRPs) in the wireless network based on absolute location information for an associated TRP in the wireless network. Such methods also include transmitting, to one or more UEs, positioning assistance data including the relative location information for the one or more TRPs. Other embodiments include complementary methods for a UE, as well as network nodes and UEs configured to perform such methods.

Relative positioning assistance information

Systems and methods for generating and configuring integrity parameters associated with positioning measurements and calculations are provided herein. Integrity KPIs can be defined by a network node for positioning assistance information and location information reporting, and can be provided to a wireless device to assist in assessing the integrity level associated with a positioning estimation.

Network assistance positioning integrity reporting

A method performed by a first base station for positioning in a cellular communication system includes receiving, at the first base station, a signal transmitted by a second base station and estimating a Time of Arrival (TOA) of the received signal at the first base station according to a clock of the first base station. The method further includes determining a delta value that is a function of an amount of time between the TOA of the received signal at the first base station and a time reference at the first base station and performing either, (a) providing the delta value to a positioning estimation entity within the cellular communications system or (b) using the delta value at the first base station to reduce a time synchronization error between the first base station and the second base station, or (c) passing the delta value to a User Equipment (UE).

A method for positioning reference signal configuration comprises receiving, from a network node, one or more first positioning reference signals in a first PRS configuration; performing one or more first measurements on the first PRS to determine one or more first characteristics of the one or more first PRSs; sending, to the network node, a second PRS configuration determined based on the one or more first characteristics; receiving, from the network node, a third PRS configuration, wherein the third PRS configuration comprises one or more third PRSs having at least one different signal characteristic than the one or more first characteristics of the first PRS; and performing one or more second measurements on the one or more third PRSs. The method provides a dynamic configuration for PRS based on the feedback from the UE and a location node, beamforming configuration, or any requirements for physical layer efficiently.

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.
