An absorbent article, such as an incontinence shield, diaper, pant-diaper, belt diaper or the like, includes a topsheet, a backsheet and an absorbent core placed therebetween. The absorbent core has two longitudinal edges, and a front and a rear transverse edge, wherein the rear transverse edge possesses a recess with at least one pair of opposing edges. The recess forms a pocket for receiving and storing faeces, wherein the pocket's extension is defined by the edges of the recess. The article provides a simple, practical and cheap solution for handling of faeces without obviously compromising the liquid absorption properties.

An absorbent article having an absorbent core and a cover enclosing the absorbent core. The absorbent core is provided with at least two slits or grooves diverging from a crotch region of the absorbent core in a direction towards one transverse edge of the absorbent core and terminating inside the respective longitudinal edge as well as the respective transverse edge of the absorbent core. These slits or grooves form folding guides along which the article can be formed into a shape having a narrow crotch width.

Absorbent article

An absorbent product includes a stiffening element intended to contribute to the three-dimensional shape of the product during its use. The stiffening element is in a plane state before use of the product and extends in the longitudinal direction of the product over the crotch portion and at least some way in over the front portion. The stiffening element has a width at the transition between the crotch portion and the front portion which is adapted to the distance between the muscle tendons of the wearer on both sides of the crotch of the wearer in the groin of the latter. The side edges of the stiffening element in the front portion of the product diverge in the direction from the crotch portion at least some way in over the front portion and form an acute angle with a line in the longitudinal direction of the product.

Absorbent article with improved fit

An absorbent article has a substantially elongated shape with a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction and exhibits two side edges a front edge and a rear edge a front portion and a rear portion and a central portion situated between the front portion and the rear portion The article furthermore exhibits a liquid-pervious cover layer and a liquid-impervious cover layer and an absorbent body. The rear portion of the absorbent body includes a layer that is split in a first leg and a second leg with a gap between the legs, where an angle &#x3b1; is defined between the first leg and the second leg, and an elastic member is placed between the first leg and the second leg, which elastic member essentially extends in the longitudinal direction.

Absorbent article, such as a sanitary towel, with a stiffening element which is intended to contribute to the three-dimensional shape of the article during its use. The stiffening element is in a plane state before use of the article. The stiffening element has in the rear portion an elongate through-hole which extends in the longitudinal direction of the article and along the centre line of the article, as a result of which the article is during use provided, by virtue of lateral forces arising in the rear portion of the article, with a fold along the longitudinal direction of the article along the hole. The fold extends into the cleft between the buttocks of the wearer during use of the article and in this way stabilizes the article in position on the wearer.

An absorbent product, such as a sanitary towel, includes a stiffening element () which is intended to contribute to the three-dimensional shape of the product during its use. The stiffening element () is in a plane state before use of the product and has a stiffness in the dry state of in the order of 1-15 N measured according to ASTM D 4032-82. The stiffening element has a width at the transition between the crotch portion () and the front portion () on the sanitary towel which is adapted to the distance between the muscle tendons of the wearer on both sides of the crotch of the wearer in the groin of the latter and which is of the order of 15-45 mm. The product has different stiffness along a center line extending in the longitudinal direction thereof, as a result of which the product is predestined to curve in predetermined places along the center line when the product is fitted on the wearer.

An absorbent product, such as a sanitary towel, has a stiffening element () which is intended to contribute to the three-dimensional shape of the product during its use. The stiffening element () is in a plane state before use of the product and extends in the longitudinal direction of the product over the crotch portion () and at least some way in over the front portion (). The stiffening element () has a width (M) at the transition () between the crotch portion () and the front portion () which is adapted to the distance between the muscle tendons of the wearer on both sides of the crotch of the wearer in the groin of the latter and which is of the order of 15-45 mm. The stiffening element () extends some way in over the rear portion () and there consists of two separate portions (), one on each side of a longitudinal center line (L).

A hump-forming element () made of a resilient material is arranged under the stiffening element (), which hump-forming element is arranged so as to bring about a raised portion () on the side which is intended to be fitted against the wearer, the raised portion () being arranged so as to come to lie directly in front of the genitals of the wearer after fitting of the product on the wearer.

The present invention relates to an absorbent article ( ) in the form of a sanitary napkin, a panty liner or a female incontinence napkin, comprising a front portion ( ) and a rear portion ( ) which includes an absorbent body ( ) enclosed between a liquid-permeable casing sheet ( ) and a liquid-impermeable casing sheet ( ), wherein the absorbent body is comprised of a central pad ( ) that extends from the forward end of the front portion to the rear end of the rear portion, and two side bodies ( ) which extend along the side edges of the central absorbent body on respective sides thereof and along a part of said body. According to the invention, the central absorbent body ( ) tapers rearwardly from a section of greatest width located in the front portion ( ) of the article to the end of the rear portion ( ) of said article, wherein the side bodies ( ) extend rearwardly from a point on the tapering part of the central absorbent body to the rear end of the article.
