A method performed by a base station includes determining a reliability requirement for a packet to be transmitted to a wireless device. The reliability requirement is determined based at least in part on a consecutive packet loss associated with at least one previously transmitted packet. Based on the reliability requirement, the packet is transmitted to the wireless device.

A method for routing a terminating call to a user equipment via a first control node for controlling the call, wherein the user equipment is attached to a second control node which is adapted to provide routing information. The method comprises determining, by the second control node, if the user equipment is attached to the second control node over a third control node, wherein the attachment over the third control node indicates that call control shall be performed by a specific service domain. Based on the determining, the provided routing information is selected by the second control node, wherein the routing information indicates to the first control node if the further call establishment to the user equipment is controlled either by the second control node or by the third control node. The call is then routed, by the first control node, according to the selected routing information.

Methods for routing a call involving an Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem Centralized Services (ICS) subscriber accessing an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network using a circuit switched (CS) access network are provided. The method includes receiving an incoming call request for a user at a gateway Mobile Switching Centre (GMSC); accessing a Location Register storing information relating to the user to determine if the user is an ICS subscriber; and generating and forwarding a SIP INVITE message to the IMS to establish the call if it is determined that the user is an ICS subscriber. Related Gateway Mobile Switching Centres (GMSCs) and Home Location Registers (HLR) are also provided herein.

Methods and arrangements for enabling execution of a communication service adapted to a client by an application server. One or more iFC:s are configured in a central subscriber data node for the client by including information related to user specific service data of the client in the iFC:s. When receiving a request related to the client, a session control node fetches the iFC:s of the client from the subscriber data node if the client is not registered. The service data related information is then extracted from an iFC of the client that matches the received request, which is forwarded to the application server with extracted service data related information attached. The application server creates user specific service data for the client based on service data related information in the request, and serve the client accordingly. No regular provisioning operation and interface towards a provisioning system are required for the application server.

Method and arrangement for enabling differentiated communication services

The present invention proposes a specific handling of tel URIs in an IMS terminating network so as to enable routing of calls using telephone numbers (and not SIP URIs with embedded telephone numbers) as identifiers of the target users of those calls. Specifically, the present invention introduces a conversion module which is located within the IMS terminating network and is capable of converting SIP URIs with embedded telephone numbers into equivalent tel URIs which are then used by a terminating I-CSCF and S-CSCF to query the SLF and/or HSS so that they can route the calls to the target users.

In registering a terminal on a telecommunications network, a plurality of private user identities (IMPIs) are derived from the IMSI of the terminal. Some or all of these IMPIs are registered with the network. Each IMPI has its own IRS containing its own IMPUs, enabling different identities of the user to be registered with the network.

Systems and methods are provided for managing communications between two or more ad-hoc networks in a communication system. The systems and methods may have flexible communication time sharing of one or more nodes taking part in two or more ad-hoc networks. For example, the communication scheduling function for a node shared by two or more ad-hoc networks is provided with a generic functional architecture such that it may be located in a number of different locations. In one embodiment, a Bluetooth communication system includes an inter-piconet scheduling function having a JUMP mode introduced to distinctly identify a node to its neighbors as being shared with multiple ad-hoc networks. The jump mode may have one or more methods for managing the inter-network communications that may include: (1) predetermined fixed starting point and length communication windows, (2) time points with flexible starting points and communication window length, and/or (3) random starting time and length communication windows.

Apparatus and methods for providing Rendezvous point Interpiconet Scheduling (RIPS) in an ad hoc polling based communication infrastructure such as a Bluetooth system in which a PMP node (Participant in Multiple Piconet nodes) belongs to more than one piconet. The rendezvous (RV) points of a PMP node is defined based on information specific to the node, rather than being associated with the links between slave and master nodes. By defining RV points per PMP node rather than per link, the master node of a piconet in the RIPS system is aware of the RV points that its slave PMP nodes have in other piconets. This advantageously allows a master node in the RIPS system to know when its slave nodes will be present in the piconet and when they will not be present.

Rendezvous point interpiconet scheduling

In a wireless or mobile ad hoc network the routing interworks with the ordinary Internet routing using the Mobile IP. Mobile IP foreign agents are used as gateways between the ad hoc network and the Internet. The nodes in the ad hoc network use their home addresses for all communication and register with a foreign agent in the network. To send packets to hosts on the Internet either tunnelling or proxying is used. To receive packets from the Internet the packets are routed to the foreign agent using the Mobile IP. The foreign agent then routes the packets to the destination in the ad hoc network. Since the ordinary Mobile IP requires link-layer connectivity between the foreign agent and a visiting node which is not guaranteed on the ad hoc network, modifications are accordingly made to the procedures of the Mobile IP.
